Jack Cook

MOULTRIE — Jack Cook, 81, of Georgia Highway 37 West in Moultrie, died June 2, 2006, at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 5, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with interment at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Eddie Dee will officiate.

Mr. Cook was born Nov. 18, 1924, in Colquitt County to the late Hattie Isom Cook and the late Lewis Cook. He was a retired farmer and of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Lee Thomas Cook of Moultrie; two brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Rodney Jack Cook and wife Anna of Augusta and Glenn Cook and wife Sonya of Moultrie; three brothers, Howard Cook of Lake Okeechobee, Fla., Turner Cook of California and Ray Cook of Moultrie; two sisters, Blanche Greenwall of Moultrie and Betty Stumps of Florida; and 10 grandchildren, Andrew Cook, Libby Cook, Tessa Cook, Jack Cook, Elijah Lee Cook, Stephanie Cronk, Joel Cronk, Tricialeigh Cronk, Aron Ferguson and Amanda Ferguson.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, June 4, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Cobb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.



Jackie Hilley Norman

MOULTRIE — Jackie Hilley Norman, 64, of Sardis Church Road in Moultrie, died Friday, June 2, 2006, at her residence.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Monday, June 5, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with burial in Sardis Cemetery. The Rev. Ronald Barrett will officiate. Casketbearers will be Jason Hilley, J.P. Hilley, B.J. Hartley, Shemik Thompson, Matt Jones, Daniel Bunker, Robbie Gresham and Stanford Whitman. Honorary casketbearers will be Zachary Hilley, Nicholas Hartley, Nathan Norman and Daniel Bunker Jr.

Mrs. Norman was born Aug. 3, 1941, in Montgomery County to the late Annie Laura Conaway and the late Ivie Conaway. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where she taught the Adult Ladies Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Norman was a graduate of Doerun High School and is the author of two published books of poetry. She also enjoyed needlework.

Survivors include her husband, Nick Norman of Moultrie; three sons, Russell Hilley and wife Jan of Gainesville, Ga., Jeffery Hilley and wife Tillie of Florence, S.C., and Brett Norman and wife Janie of Alpharetta; two daughters, Kimberly Snead of Moultrie and Karen Hartley and husband Joey of Forsyth; sisters, Louise Winton and husband Jerry of Powder Springs, Ida Frech and husband Gus of Dallas, Ga., and Connie Jernigan and husband Buddy of Athens, Ala.; grandchildren, Felicia Krafft, Marion Schuyler, Clifford Schuyler, Tony Schuyler, Shemik Thompson, Julie McDaniel, Bonnie Griner, Jason Hilley, Laura Hilley, Grace Hilley, Allison Jones, B.J. Hartley, Nicholas Hartley, J.P. Hilley, Hailee Hilley, Zackary Hilley, Samantha Norman and Nathan Norman; and great-grandchildren, Christinia Nix, Daniel Bunker Jr., Colin McDaniel and Eamon McDaniel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clifford Hilley; one brother, Louis Conaway; and one sister, Laura Conaway.

Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. today, June 4, at Cobb Funeral Chapel. The family asks donations be made in Mrs. Norman’s name to Hospice, P.O. Box 3548, Moultrie, GA 31776 or The Hope Lodge, 1552 Shoup Court, Decatur, GA 30033-4607.

Eloise Maxwell

HARTSFIELD — Eloise Maxwell, 95, of Mitchell County Line Road in Hartsfield, died Friday, June 2, 2006, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie.

Graveside funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 5, in Maxwell Cemetery on Mitchell County Line Road in Colquitt County. The Rev. Dion Brown will officiate.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, June 4, at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home.

Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home, Camilla, is in charge of arrangements.



Jule Cody Neal Jr., M.D.

ST. SIMON’S ISLAND, Ga. — Jule Cody Neal Jr., M.D., 88, of St. Simon’s Island, Ga., died Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at his residence after an extended illness.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 12, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Macon, Ga., with the Rev. Monsignor John Cuddy and Dr. Rick Lanford officiating.

Born Nov. 27, 1917, in Atlanta, Ga., he had made his home on St. Simon’s Island since 1999, moving from Macon, after 50 years.

He was a 1938 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia with a degree in pharmacy. He served in the United States Navy from 1943-1946. A 1943 graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, where he completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology in 1949, he was a clinical instructor in obstetrics and gynecology at the Medical College of Georgia and Mercer University School of Medicine.

Dr. Neal was past president of the Bibb County Medical Society, Medical College of Georgia Alumni Society and the OB/GYN Society. He served as past president chief of Coliseum Park Hospital and Macon Hospital. He was awarded in 1999 the Physician of the Year Award by the Bibb County Medical Society. He was a member of the American Medical Association, American and International College of Surgeons, American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Southern Medical Associations, Southern Atlantic Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society, Sigma Chi Fraternity, the Gridiron Society and St. William Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen Gelissen and Jule Cody Neal; and two sisters, Reine Neal Johnson and Elsanne Neal Lam.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mildred Cagle Neal; children, Lisa and David Moody, Cody and Ginny Neal, Lyn, Mike and Patti Neal and Grace Collins; seven grandchildren, John David and Christopher Neal Moody, J. Cody Neal, Coleman Neal, Michael Neal, Matthew Neal and Alicia Neal Carroll; great-grandchildren, Brittany Neal and Alan Carroll; and a sister, Mary Helen Neal Waechter of Asheville, N.C.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Snow’s Memorial Chapel in Macon, Ga.

The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the church social hall.
