Doris Hilda Singletary Norman
MOULTRIE — Doris Hilda Singletary Norman, 84, died Friday, May 26, 2006, at her residence in Moultrie.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 30 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Preston Norman and Rev. Andy Cashwell officiating. Interment will be held at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Scott Hewitt, Lance Johnson, Edward W. Norman Jr., Gary Register, J.A. Norman and Richard Norman with the members of Mrs. Norman’s Sunday School Class serving as honorary pallbearers.
Born in Colquitt County July 3, 1921 to the late Henry Otis Singletary and Delta Hilda Sain Singletary, Mrs. Norman was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Norman is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Edward Norman, a son, Jerry D. Norman, and a brother, H.O. Singletary Jr. She is survived by a son Edward W. Norman Sr. and a daughter Laverne Norman Register and husband Grady, all of Moultrie; seven grandchildren, Lisa Norman Hewitt and husband Scott of Moultrie, Laura Norman of Charleston, S.C., Julie Norman Becker and husband Ben of Thailand, Edward W. Norman Jr. of Moultrie, Gary Register and wife Paula of Moultrie, Freda Register of Moultrie, Rachael Register of Moultrie; 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Arthur Henry Ellis
NORMAN PARK — Arthur Henry Ellis, 83, of Norman Park, died Sunday, May 28, 2006 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home. Service will be Thursday, June 1 at 3 p.m. at Norman Park First Baptist Church.

J. Doyle Smith
ATLANTA — J. Doyle Smith, 84, of Atlanta died Sunday, May 28, 2006, at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta.
Graveside rites will be held Wednesday, May 31 at 2 p.m. at Doerun Cemetery with the Rev. Stephen Batts officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Bess Edge Smith of Atlanta; two sons, Hollis and Carl Smith; a brother, George Smith and other relatives and friends.

Irma Louise Varnadoe Apperson
SYLVESTER — Irma Louise Varnadoe Apperson, 75, of Sylvester died Sunday, May 28, 2006, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Funeral services will be held at Banks Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, May 31 at 11 a.m. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Apperson was preceded in death by her husband, William Apperson Jr.; her parents, to Erman E. and Henrietta Varnadoe; a daughter, Karen Apperson, a son, Wayne Apperson and two brothers, Hugh Varnadoe and William (Billy) Apperson.
Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Glover and friend Danny Glover of Anderson City; a son, Ricky Apperson and wife Glenda of Leesburg; two brothers, Earl Varnadoe and wife Barbara of Doerun and Ralph Varnadoe and wife Angela, also of Doerun; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Banks Funeral Home.
Vivian Flowers Stanford
MOULTRIE — Vivian Flowers Stanford, 80, died Saturday, May 27, 2006 at Woodlands Living Center in Moultrie.
Funeral services will be held at Cobb Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 1 with the Rev. James Williams officiating. Interment will be at Greenfield Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ray Flowers, David Flowers, Morris Baker, Steve Flowers, Lee Baker and Nat Flowers.
Born on Oct. 29, 1925 to the late Ownie Cardin Flowers and the late Nathan Oliver Flowers, Mrs. Stanford was department head of housekeeping and laundry at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by a son, Joseph R. Stanford and wife Alacia of Moultrie; two daughters, Sandra Stanford Young of Alaska and Susan Stanford Beard and husband Jim of Flagstaff, Ariz.; two brothers, Nathan Oliver Flowers Jr. and Raiford Jack Flowers, both of Moultrie; two sisters, Vera Baker of Moultrie and Lona Thompson of North Carolina; nine grandchildren, Darron Stanford, James Stanford, Derrick Handfield, Mark Young, Rebecca Beard, Laura Beard, Rene Hardin, Michael Young and Amanda Young; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 31 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Chapel. The family may be contacted at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Darron Stanford, 316 Clarence Jones Road, in Moultrie.
