Bessie S. Holcombe
MOULTRIE — Bessie S. Holcombe, 91, died Sunday, April 30, 2006, at Sunrise Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be held 6 p.m. today, May 2, at Seventh Day Adventist Church Cemetery in Barwick, Ga., with Charles Moore officiating, assisted by the Rev. Larry Harris. The pallbearers will be David Almand, Lawson Craft, John Smith, D.L. Lawhorn, Doug Coon and Leonard Kmitta.
Born Aug. 8, 1914, in Campbell County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late James Arthur Sudduth and Hester M. Sudduth and she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George David Holcombe.
Survivors include two daughters, Nina Almand of Moultrie and Velma Bearup and husband Kenneth of Collegedale, Tenn.; a brother, Wayne Sudduth of Crystal Springs, Miss.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 2, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Fredrick W. Snyder
LAKE CITY, Fla. — Fredrick W. Snyder, 60, of Moultrie, died Sunday, April 30, 2006, at the Lake City Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lake City, Fla.
He was born in Moultrie and resided there his entire life. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a truck driver and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife Geraldine of Moultrie; sons, Michael Snyder, Travis Snyder, Eli Snyder and Matt Snyder, all of Moultrie; daughter, Tina Snyder of Moultrie; stepsons, Gary Angelie, Daniel Mixon and Michael Mixon, all of Moultrie; stepdaughter, Charity Mixon of Moultrie; and four grandchildren.
Veterans Funeral Care in Tampa Bay, Fla. is in charge of arrangements.
Richard Eugene Yates Jr.
OCKEECHOBEE, Fla. — Richard Eugene Yates Jr., 64, died Saturday, April 29, 2006, in Fayetteville, N.C.
Graveside rites with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 3, at Weeks Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Robinson officiating.
Born April 21, 1942, in Roanoake, Va., he was the son of the late Hazel Lee Lucas McCulley and Richard Eugene Yates. He was retired from the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Goings Yates; son, Richard Eugene Yates III of Irving, Texas; daughter, Jolie Dee Meares of Fayetteville, N.C.; brothers, Danny McCulley and David McCulley, both of Miami, Fla.; sister, Daana Lynn Magalski of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; a grandchild, Jolie Dee Meares II; and mother-in-law, Ellen Goings of Okeechobee, Fla.

Doris Ruth Griner Hampton
SALE CITY — Doris Ruth Griner Hampton, 71, died Sunday, April 30, 2006, at Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, May 4, at Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Cool Springs Cemetery in Sale City with Stacy Holton, John M. Cox, Christopher Hendley, Brian Beck, Rex Shiver Jr. and C.J. Bivins serving as pallbearers. The honorary pallbearer is Tommy Davis.
Born May 17, 1934, in Mitchell County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Needham Malord Griner and Ruth Irene Griner. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Veterans of Foreign Wars since 1963.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Omar Hampton.
Survivors include sons, Johnny Pope of Moultrie and Lenny Shiver and wife Marilyn of Waycross, Ga.; daughter, Sharon Pope and husband Charlie of Moultrie; 11 grandchildren, Lenny Shiver Jr. and wife Judy, Anita Rose, Katherine Hudson, Marcus Ricks and fiancee Leslie, Michael Ricks and wife Jennifer, David Ricks, Mitchell Pope and wife Nicole, Brandi Pope, Stacy and Keith Holton and Angel Pope; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 3, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Donations may be made to the Humane Society.
