MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County middle school golf team won its final outing of the season on Thursday, defeating Hahira in a playoff in the Lowndes Middle School Booster Tournament at Francis Lake Golf Club in Lake Park.

It was the third time the Packers had to go a playoff this season and John Fordham made sure it was a successful one.

Fordham and the No. 1 player for Hahira tied on the first playoff hole.

But the Colquitt County eighth-grader hit a drive about 310 yards on the second hole and went on to a first-place clinching birdie.

Fordham shot a 75, but was not the tournament’s low medalist. The No. 1 player from Wilcox County shot a 73.

The middle school Packers also got an 83 from Billy Edwards and an 88 from both Preston Mobley and Seth Williams.
