MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County junior varsity girls soccer team finished its season with an 2-1 victory over Lowndes on Monday in Valdosta.

The JV Lady Packers finish the season with and 8-3 record.

Included among those eight victories were three over Lowndes. The Lady Packers defeated the Vikettes in their last two matches.

Colquitt County got one goal from Abbey Taylor in the 39th minute and, in what prove to be the game-winner, another from Lindy Sanderson in the 68th minute.

Lowndes scored on penalty kick.

Taylor’s goal was her ninth of the season.

Colquitt had 24 shots on goal, but managed to get just two into the net.

“Their goalie played a great game,” coach Andy Chapura said.

The match was a physical one, Chapura said.

“There was a lot of pushing and shoving, but our girls battled back,” he said. “The didn’t give up. They just kept fighting.

“I’m really proud of the way our girls played.”
