After Saturday’s second round, a 13-under-par 59, Eagle’s Landing finds itself in first place by two strokes heading into today’s final round.

After a 62 on Friday, Eagle’s Landing has a two-day total of 121, 23 under par.

Bill Connally’s Glen Arven team is two shots back.

Five teams are at 124, including the Cartersville Country Club team of professional Scott Hamilton, which shot a 59 on Saturday.

Playing for the Carterville’s foursome is Moultrie’s Kevin Blanton who has a 74-72 for a two-day 146.

Marietta’s Jonathan Cox is one shot back at 140.

The best amateur score of the day was a 67 turned in by Sunset Country Club A team’s Chad Eunice and Capital City’s Mike Grant.

The low professional leaderboard had five players tied for the lead and three more just a shot back.

At 141 are Thompson, Cairo’s Glenn Herrell, Chicopee Woods’ Greg Lee, Francis Lake’s J.R. Leonard Jr. and Lanier’s Randy Brooks.

Brooks had the best score of the day with his 65. He shot 76 on Friday.

The Sunset Country Club teams remain in contention after two days.

The A team, which includes Eunice, Jon Ladson and Ernie Venet, followed its first day 64 with a 63 on Saturday and is six shots off the pace.

The Sunset B team has a 65-64 and is one of six teams tied at 129.

One of those teams is the defending Pot o’ Gold champion Valdosta County Club foursome.

Windom said that the Sunset A team opened with a trio of birdies on Saturday, but found them much harder to come by the rest of the day.

He was baffled as to why No. 5 has been a problem both days.

“We haven’t birdied No. 5 yet,” Windom said.

The other two members of the Sunset A team are Jon Ladson, who has a 73-75 for a 148 and Ernie Venet, a 76-79 for a 155.
