Middle school tennis team splits

MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County middle school tennis team split its matches with Hahira on Thursday at the Jim Buck Goff Recreation Complex.
The boys team won 5-0. The girls team, forced to give up a forfeit at No. 2 doubles because a player was sick, fell 2-3.
For the boys team, Andrew Harvin won at No. 1 singles 6-1 over Seth Roundtree.
At No. 2, Blake Jenkins won over Patrick Chancey 6-1.
At No. 3, Ryan Sherling defeated David Keener 6-0.
At No. 1 doubles, Bo Blalock and Brandon Oaks won over Rob Blanton and Drew Parker 6-1.
At No. 2 doubles, Russ DeMott and Jacob Tompkins defeated Michael Hayes and Greg Fricker 6-1.
In extra boys matches, Trey Jones and John Barber won over Hahira’s Alex Robinson and David Keener 6-0; Christian Edwards and Dylan Underwood defeated Rob Blanton and Drew Parker 6-2; Coby King and Kyle Tolbert lost to Seth Roundtree and Patrick Chancey 4-6;
Reed Wells and Paul Leonard won over Michael Hayes and Greg Fricker 1-6; Lee Veasey and Jonathan Mobley lost to Rob Blanton and David Keener 0-6; and Tyler Houston and Landon Rehberg defeated Alex Robinson and Drew Parker 6-5.
In girls play, Colquitt County’s No. 1 singles player Constance Terrell fell to Mary Beth Hanson 3-6.
At No. 2, Ashton Eunice won over Anna Tudor 6-2.
Colquitt County’s Brooke Kick fell at No. 3 to Breanna Stadsbold 1-6.
Colquitt County won at No. 1 doubles, where Jana Harvin and Ivy Jane Reeves defeated Alex Crowder and Courtney Wilson 6-1.
But the middle school girls team has only seven players and one was out sick, forcing the forfeit at No. 2 doubles.
In extra matches, Brooke Kick and Jana Harvin won over Bailey Redish and Caroline Wilson 6-3, and Colquitt ’s Eireann Robinson fell to Megan Davis 3-6.
The middle school team will play next Tuesday at home.
