MOULTRIE — Colquitt County broke a 2-2 tie with a pair of second-half goals and took a 4-2 victory over Lee County on Tuesday in Leesburg.
The victory was the sixth in a row for the Lady Packers after opening the season with a loss at Warner Robins.
Lee County scored the first goal of the match with 26:57 left in the first half, but Alba Hernandez tied it with her 14th goal of the season with 8:43 remaining before intermission.
The Lady Trojans then went up 2-1 three minutes later on the 100th career goal by Lindsay Clouser.
But Whitney Hood tied the match again with 3:04 left in the half.
Sarah Tyndall put the Lady Packers ahead to stay with a goal with 39:59 left in the match. Sha Wetherington added an insurance goal with 27:52 remaining.
“We played better than the score indicates,” Lady Packers coach Jimbo Jarvis said. “We had several opportunities that just missed. It could easily have been 8-2.”
After Colquitt County got up by two goals, Jarvis moved Wetherington to defense and the Lady Packers protected the lead.
The Colquitt County boys lost 5-1. Spencer Clayton scored the Packers goal.
