MOULTRIE — Kelsey Goodman made her first appearance for the Colquitt County middle school diving team a memorable one, taking first place and setting a pool record at the War Eagle Middle School Invitational held Friday at the Marist School in Atlanta.

Goodman scored a 280.80 and earned kudos from her coach, and father, Ed Goodman.

“She dove great,” Ed Goodman said. “She had a great meet.”

Kelsey Goodman moved to Colquitt County late last year when her father took a job as a coach with the Moss Farm Diving team.

Ann Perry Blank also had a fine meet, finishing second in the 30-girl field with a 225.40.

Jillian Braun, who trains at Moss Farms, but attends Deerfield-Windsor in Albany, was sixth with a 168.25. Ana Jiminez was ninth with a 142.55.

“To have four in the top 10 was pretty awesome,” Ed Goodman said.

Two Moss Farms-trained divers were included in the 19-entry boys meet.

Colquitt County’s Henry Norman was 10th. And Dalan Wedgeworth from Tift County was 14th. Both are what Ed Goodman termed “novice divers.”

“But they both dove really well,” he said. “They stepped up.

“Dalan had never been to a meet before, but he was real focused.”
