MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County High swimming team turned in its best performance of the season on Saturday, finishing fourth with season-high point total in the Cairo Syrupmaker Invitational held at the Bainbridge YMCA.

Each member of the team earned points and Caroline Rogers had a first-place finish in the breaststroke.

Northside High of Warner Robins was first in the girls competition, followed by Thomasville, Cairo, Colquit County, Thomas County Central and Shaw.

Thomasville had the top boys team score, followed by Cairo, Northside, Colquitt County, Thomas County Central and Shaw.

The Colquitt County team has just two seniors and swims with six freshmen and two sophomores.

Rogers, who one of those freshman, led Colquitt County with 21.5 points. Another freshman, Amy Peek, was second on the team with 16.5 points.

A pair of sophomores, Ashlee Paramore and Taylor Walsh, had 12 and 11 points respectively.

Juniors Becky Beason and Carter Jones each earned 10 points.

Also swimming for Colquitt County on Saturday were junior Caleb Meister, nine points; senior Lindsay Hargrove, six points; freshman Chris Phillips, six points; freshman Emily Casteel, 4.5 points; freshman Katy Weilbrenner, four points; senior Sarah Price, 3.5 points; junior Andrew Parker, 3.5 points; freshman Jacob Cobb, 3.5 points; junior Tyler Perryman, 3.5 points; junior Joe Peacock, three points; junior Chris Mercer, .5 points.

Colquitt County will compete next in the Americus Panther Invitational, to be held on Saturday at Georgia Southwestern College.
