Gloria Ann Norman Young
QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. — Gloria Ann Norman Young, 80, formerly of Moultrie, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2005, in Chandler, Ariz.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 31, at Baker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Stanley Norman officiating assisted by the Rev. Andy Cashwell. Burial will follow at Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Ronald Norman, Randell Norman, Rex Norman, Michael Norman, Gerald Young Jr. and Ian Hester serving as pallbearers.
Born Sept. 17, 1925, in Colquitt County, she was the daughter of the late Joel Ansel Norman and Bessie Newbern Norman. She was a retired school teacher.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Horace Norman, Charles Norman, Miles Norman and Lawrence Norman; and sisters, Ada Hancock, Ellen Dysart and Lula Thompkins.
Survivors include sons, Gerald Wayne Young and wife Janet of New Town, Pa., and Danny Young and wife Kathy of Queen Creek, Ariz.; daughter, Patricia Ann Young of Connecticut; brothers, Preston Norman and wife Avis of Moultrie and J.A. Norman and wife Bama of Moultrie; five grandchildren, Gerald Wayne Young and wife Tracee of Bonita Springs, Fla., Cari McCormick and husband Kevin and Naomi Young of Queen Creek, Ariz., Cynthia Boccus and husband Michael of Nassau, Bahamas, and Vanessa Martin of Orlando, Fla.; four great-grandchildren, Cole Michael McCormick, Hannah McCormick, Laurran McCormick of Queen Creek, Ariz., and Trent Young of Bonita Springs, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Doris Norman of Omega, Olga Norman of Macon and Blanche Norman of Omega.
Visitation will be tonight 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Lindsey Hilton Alderman
MOULTRIE — Lindsey Hilton Alderman, 96, of Moultrie died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church in Berlin with the Rev. James Sellers officiating, assisted by the Rev. Jim Osborn. Interment will follow at Sardis Cemetery. Glen Fowler, Ashley Fowler, Joey Smithwick, Dustin Fowler, Scott Brudett and Derek Alderman will serve as casketbearers.
Born Jan. 19, 1909, in Colquitt County, Mr. Alderman was the son of the late Hiram Patten Alderman and the late Alice Kent Alderman. He was a farmer and retired from Swift and Co., and he was a member of Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church in Berlin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Truett Alderman; four brothers, Lawrence Alderman, Otis Alderman, Clinton Alderman and Dalton Alderman; and a sister, Dora Bennett.
Survivors include a son, Roger Hilton Alderman and wife Latrelle of Thomasville; a daughter, Betty Faye Fowler and husband Guy of Moultrie; two sisters, Lillie B. Croft and Lorene Swicord and husband Charlie, all of Moultrie; four grandchildren, Grady Fowler and wife Ricki of Moultrie, Sheila Smithwick and husband Joey of Coolidge, Pam White and husband Sam of Thomasville and Derek Alderman and wife Donna of Greenville, N.C.; four great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Hattie Frances Weed
COLUMBUS, Ga. — Hattie Frances Weed, 63, of Columbus, Ga., died Friday, Dec. 23, 2005, at The Medical Center of Columbus, Ga.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, at Westview Cemetery.
Born June 22, 1942, in Columbus, Ga., Mrs. Weed was daughter of the late Willie N. McCann and the late Janie Mae Revell McCann. She worked at Dixie Sandwich Company in Albany for more than 40 years.
Mrs. Weed was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary R. Mull.
Survivors include her husband, Harold W. Weed of Columbus, Ga.; four children, Frances Hannah, Annette Gay and Henry Weed and wife Angelia, all of Columbus, Ga., Rose Anderson of Phenix City, Ala.; a brother, Frank McCann of Albany; a sister, Mae Sizemore of Red Rock; a son-in-law, Mark Wesley Mull of Columbus, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, William Neal Hadden, Christopher Dwayne Weed, Amanda Ann Weed, Amy Elizabeth Weed, Alicia Mae Mull, Destiny Annette Mull, Gary Hannah Jr., Janice Hannah, George Hannah and Rudy Marino; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Ada B. Stokes
MOULTRIE — Ada B. Stokes, 77, of Moultrie died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at Magnolia Manor South Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at Live Oak Baptist Church with the Rev. John W. Greene Jr. officiating, assisted by the Rev. Reggie Baker. Burial will follow at St. James Pallbearers Cemetery No. 2. Family and friends of Mrs. Stokes will serve as pallbearers.
Born March 3, 1928, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Stokes was the daughter of the late Dozer Jones and the late Anna Jones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph Stokes Sr.; a daughter, Carla M. Stokes; and two sisters, Ruth Clark and Fannie Mae Brown.
Survivors include two sons, Adolph Stokes Jr. and wife Joycie and Sandy Stokes and wife Annette, all of Moultrie; five daughters, Debra Williams and husband Paul of Berlin, Regina Smith of Moultrie, Margaret Young of Atlanta, Brenda Washington and husband Dwayne of Glenberrie, Md., and Shirley Ann Bennett of Augusta; two brothers, Willie James Jones and wife Lillie of Moultrie and the Rev. John Curtis Jones of Atlanta; a special granddaughter, Carla Bailey of Atlanta; a special grandson, Willie Palmore of Moultrie; 16 other grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

MOULTRIE — Myles Dewey Alderman, 83, of Moultrie died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Moultrie with the Rev. Roger Benton officiating, assisted by the Rev. J.E. Moak and the Rev. Julian Griner. Interment will follow in the veterans section of Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Richard Bass, Kenny Hammock, Bobby Livingston, Frank Cox, Danny Alderman and Ben Alderman will serve as casketbearers.
Born Feb. 2, 1922, in Colquitt County, Mr. Alderman was the son of the late Minnie Manning Alderman and the late John Richard Alderman Sr. He was the owner and operator of Myles Grocery Store and the operator of several dry cleaner and coin laundry services before retiring in 1997. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Moultrie, and he was a member of the Moultrie Masonic Lodge No. 381 for over 50 years.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force. He served as a staff sergeant with the 417th Bombardment Group (L) of the A-20 HAVOC Squadrons of the 5th Army Air Force in the Southwest Pacific Arena during World War II.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Hamp Alderman; and three sisters, Ella A. Gay, Elva A. May and Elsie A. Kelly.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Eaton Alderman of Moultrie; two daughters, Nancy Eaton Viafora and husband Michael F. III and Patsy Joanne Eaton, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, John R. Alderman Jr. of Bainbridge; a sister, Ellen Alderman Gunnels of Tallahassee, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Jennifer Trahan, Amber Viafora and Laura Viafora.

Howard Randolph Roland (VETERAN)
PELHAM — Howard Randolph Roland, 80, of Pelham died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Summerlin and the Rev. Jason Cottle officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memory Gardens.
Born Feb. 12, 1925, in Colquitt County, Mr. Roland was the son of the late Maude Green Roland and the late Jim Roland. He was a farmer and a member of China Grove Baptist Church, and he was a member of the Berlin Masonic Lodge and Hasan Temple. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Faye Norman Roland of Pelham; a son, Randolph Roland of Moultrie; a stepson, Tim Poitevient of Pelham; four stepdaughters, Kathy Shiver of Albany; Tammy Harper of Coolidge and Jennifer Pool and Lora Curles, both of Pelham; a brother, Ollie Roland of Sale City; two sisters, Christine Stanfill and Cleo Lane, both of Moultrie; one grandchild; and five stepgrandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Johnnie Medley Hagan
THOMASVILLE — Johnnie Medley Hagan, of Thomasville died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville.
Survivors include her husband, Dallas E. “Pete” Hagan, and six children.
Memorials may be made to Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology or Dawson Street United Methodist Church.
