Colquitt County officers graduate from ABAC police academy

TIFTON — Eric M. Scott and James R. Smith of the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office were among 17 individuals who recently received certificates at graduation exercises for the 206th session of the South Georgia Police Academy Basic Mandate Class at Abraham Baldwin College.

Scott received second place in the firearms competition.

William D. Graham of the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office received the award for overall achievement. Graham also received first place in academic achievement, with Marcus R. Sales of the Albany Police Department earning second place.

First place in firearms went to Andre’ Thompson of the Albany Police Department, who also served as president of the 206th session.

The South Georgia Police Academy regularly holds multi-week intensive training sessions designed to acquaint officers with state-of-the-art law enforcement techniques. The academy operates in cooperation with the Division of Social Science at ABAC.
