Sharks third in Albany swim meet

MOULTRIE — The Moultrie Sharks placed third in the seven-team Joe Brashears Invitational swim meet held Saturday in Albany.
The Sharks placed second in girls scores behind the Albany YMCA team, which finished first overall in the meet.
Albany scored 2,066 points to take first-place in the meet.
Bainbridge was second with 1,201 points, followed by Moultrie, 914; St. Simons Swim Team, 499; Douglas YMCA, 346; Waycross YMCA, 180; and Thomasville YMCA, 162.
Sharks Alex Pritchett, Connor Walsh and Caroline Rogers were second in their age groups in individual scoring.
Pritchett, swimming in the 9-10 age group, was first in the 50-yard butterfly and 100-yard freestyle and was second in the 50 freestyle, 100 individual medley and 50 backstroke.
Pritchett, who is 10, had 91 points to finish second behind Sarah Grace Carpenter of Bainbridge who had 94.
Walsh was second was the boys 11-12 age group, with 87 points.
He finished first in 50 backstroke with a 46.64.
Walsh also was second in the 50 freestyle, 50 breaststroke and 200 individual medley and was third in the 50 butterfly. Rogers tied for second in the 13-14 girls age group with Jessica Allen of Bainbridge.
Both had 87 points to finish behind Sunnie Chason of Bainbridge, who had 100 points.
Rogers won the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:27.33.
She also was second in the 200 individual medley, the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly; and was third in the 100 freestyle.
The Sharks 11-12 girls 200-yard medley relay team placed first. The team included Pritchett, Staci Repass, Savannah Kissel and Katie Moore.
The same foursome finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay team.
The Sharks 13-14 200-yard medley relay team of Rogers, Hayden Van Dalsem, Sara Jenkins and Haley Goodman finished second.
The same four girls swam in the 200-yard freestyle relay event and finished third.
Jenkins turned in a third-place finish in the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly. She also was seventh in the 100 backstroke and eighth in the 100 freestyle.
Val Dalsem also had a third place finish in the 50 backstroke. She also had a pair of fourth-place finishes, in the 200 freestyle and 50 butterfly. She was fifth in both the 50 freestyle and 50 breaststroke.
Goodman had fifth-place finishes in the 50 backstroke, 50 butterfly and 100 freestyle. She was seventh in the 50 freestyle and 50 breaststroke.
Mallory Herndon, in the 7-8 girls age group, was fifth in the 25 freestyle; seventh in the 25 breaststroke; and eighth in the 25 backstroke, 25 butterfly and 50 freestyle.
Kissel had a sixth-place finish in the 100 freestyle.
The best finishes for Repass were in the 50 backstroke and 50 butterfly, events in which she placed seventh.
Moore had eighth-place finishes in the 50 backstroke, 50 butterfly and 100 freestyle.
Caroline Palmer swam in five events in the 6-and-under age group.
