Woman reports high-speed chase

MOULTRIE — A woman reported being chased by an unknown person at high rates of speed Tuesday night.

Katrina Adderton of Third Street Southeast told Moultrie police she was driving on McGinty Road when a Ford Bronco pulled out of a driveway and started to chase her. She tried speeding up to get away from the Bronco, but it continued the pursuit at high rates of speed.

Reports said Adderton told police she ran several red lights and stop signs because of the Bronco’s pursuit. When she got to the police station on Second Avenue Northeast, the Bronco stopped pursuing her and she was able to call 911.

It was unknown why the Bronco pursued Adderton, reports said. Police escorted her back to her residence on Third Street Southeast but were unable to locate the Bronco.



Other incidents

Gary Robinson of McMullen Road told Colquitt County sheriff’s deputies an unknown person stole his Chevrolet S-10 pickup between midnight and 6:26 a.m. Wednesday. The truck contained $4,000 worth of fire equipment and an unknown amount of checks from a fund raiser. The total value of the stolen items was $16,000.

Donn Stanfill reported an unknown person pried open a hatch on the roof of Winn-Dixie on Talmadge Drive Tuesday. Damage to the hatch was estimated at $800.

Mac Ellison of Second Avenue Northwest reported an unknown person struck the front door of his residence, breaking the glass, Tuesday. Damage to the residence was $600.

Shantaurus McIntyre reported an unknown person stole her Audiovox 8410 cell phone while she was on Fifth Avenue Northwest between 6 p.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Tuesday. The value of the stolen cell phone was $200.

Steve Taylor reported an unknown person entered a repossessed Mercury Sable and stole a radio and damaged the wiring while the vehicle was at Southland Auto on Fifth Avenue Southeast between 5:30 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. Tuesday. Damage and the value of the stolen radio were $200.

David Hembree of Seventh Avenue Southwest reported Wednesday an unknown person stole a Colt Detective .38 Special pistol from his residence between 5:30 p.m. and 8:28 p.m. June 16. The value of the stolen pistol was $300. Hembree provided police with the names of two male acquaintances that he suspects stole the pistol.

Travis Torbert of Coolsprings Road reported Monday an unknown person used his check card to purchase several items on eBay and changed his e-mail password. It was unknown at the time of report the value of items bought on eBay.

Roger Croft of Langford Street in Berlin reported Tuesday an unknown person stole his antique gas pump between June 12 and Friday. The value of the stolen pump was unknown at the time of report.



Arrests

Johnny Downs, 35, of 835 Shy Manor Drive, Apartment 2, was charged Tuesday with DUI, driving without a license, driving too fast for conditions and driving without a helmet.

Hector Alonzo Sanchez, 20, of 271 Demott Subdivision Road, was charged Monday with failure to stop at an accident with damage and driving without a license.

Delores Bassier, 45, of 315 Zion Grove Church Road in Meigs, was charged Tuesday with driving with a suspended license.

Moses Renee Benavidez, 24, of 566 Highway 270 East in Doerun, was charged Friday with obstruction of officers by bringing contraband into the jail.

Gloria Mercer, 39, of 16991 Georgia Highway 122 in Pavo, was charged Tuesday with five counts of issuing bad checks.
