MOULTRIE — In a wild weekend of cutting, shooting and fistfights, a Moultrie man reported being the victim of a drive-by shooting as he stood outside Mama’s Kitchen on West Central Avenue early Sunday morning.

The weekend saw at least 25 people arrested on a wide range of charges and at least 14 other persons in the city and county reported being victims of crimes.

Antwan Henry reported the drive-by shooting to Moultrie police officers. When an officer arrived at the scene, Henry had been taken to the emergency room, and the officer made contact with him there.

Police reports said the officer was sent to Mama’s Kitchen at 12:03 a.m. Sunday after Henry reported being shot. He told the officer a small four-door vehicle, possibly a Honda Accord, drove by the restaurant.

As the vehicle drove by Henry, police reports said a male acquaintance leaned out of the passenger window and began shooting at Henry. Henry stated one bullet had hit him, and he had a gunshot wound to his lower right side.

The officer also found a hole in one of the front windows of the restaurant. A large crowd had also gathered at the restaurant and extended into the nearby Oxley’s parking lot.

Police reports said the acquaintance also had allegedly assaulted Henry Saturday, and the officer noted he had a black left eye from the incident. Henry’s condition was unknown as of Monday evening.
