MOULTRIE — A Moultrie man returned home from lunch to find his maid half-naked and tied to a chair Thursday.

The 77-year-old homeowner found the woman gagged with duct tape and bound to the chair in his bedroom just before noon Thursday on Third Street Southeast. When she was released, she described a terrifying tale of a robbery.

The 33-year-old maid told police the homeowner left the residence for lunch at 11:10 a.m., while she was mopping the floor. She heard noises coming from his bedroom and went to see what caused the noise.

When she opened the bedroom door, reports said, she saw two men, described as young-looking black males with ski masks, inside the bedroom. One of the men grabbed her, put a small gun to her head and sat her down in the chair.

The two unknown men took her shirt off and began to tie her to the chair with duct tape, reports said. The man who put the gun to her head pulled out a small knife, possibly a paring knife, and rubbed the unsharpened side across her chest, yelling at her to “shut up.”

Reports said the two men then wrapped the maid’s head in duct tape, covering her eyes and mouth. She told police she could hear the two moving around the room for another five or six minutes after tying her up then left.

When the homeowner returned to the residence, reports said, he found the maid tied to the chair. She was wearing only a bra, jeans and socks when he found her.

The man then went into another bedroom and awoke another resident, a 35-year-old man who was sleeping at the other end of the house. They used a butcher knife to free the woman then gave her a shirt to put on.

The elderly man’s bedroom was left in disarray, with dresser drawers emptied onto the floor. Reports said the robbers stole $150.

Police responded to the residence and searched for possible evidence and took photos of the room, reports said. The maid did not need medical attention following the incident, police said.
