Sex and pell

“So, if young people don’t have sex, they will have enough money for college without Pell grants? Where is the logic behind that? College is expensive, and very few people could afford it without the assistance of grants.”

Illogic

“I’m amused at some of the illogic that people spout in this forum. I give as an example the one about ‘Pell grants would not be necessary if kids would get their minds off sex.’

I really got a laugh at that one. It makes as much sense to keep them away from screen doors or Hershey bars.

Obviously the person who said this did not get a Pell grant nor any other device that would have propelled him into higher education.”

A hoot

“I watched the ‘Green Berets’ the other night. It was about as big a hoot as ‘Red Dawn.’ Boy did we have smoke blowed up our skirts back in those days!”

All ills

“I have a better understanding of life and the universe now. The media is responsible for all ills in our society.”

Smoking

“Students are smoking on our school busses. I think this should be looked into. Certainly the bus drivers know this.”

Media

“Could it be that the media caused the tsunami to kill all those people?”

I agree

“I agree that the media should not be covering our wars and giving away our secrets. Let them know only after the facts.”

Hamilton School

“If you look at the social and racial makeup of Hamilton School, you will discover that it has less challenges and thus greater advantage in improving scores.”

Comparison

“I keep hearing people refer to ‘godliness’ in presidents, etc. And Bush keeps getting the halo in this regard.

Well, I was just wondering if ‘godliness’ was what we wanted, then why didn’t we support Jimmy Carter more than we did.

There’s never been a more obvious godly person than him in the White House. And he still practices what he preaches.

When Bush gets out of the White House, check and see how many Sunday School lessons he teaches and how many houses he helps build in impoverished neighborhoods.

With all the talk, I just thought the comparison was appropriate.”

Asteroid

“I think when the earth is destroyed, it will come from an asteroid. And I don’t think we will have a missile big enough to divert it or blow it up. We should get our lives in order.”
