Rant and Rave

For July 15
Only in America
“Only in America does the government pay folks to grow a crop that has no health benefits while allowing companies that buy and process this crop to be sued for the disease it’s known to cause.”
How come?
“How come when Moultrie is cheaper on gas than Tifton and Valdosta we don’t hear anything in Rants and Raves about it?”
Lowe’s
“Since Lowes appears to be started construction, let’s see if Home Depot is going to come here or if they were just playing games with us.”
In response
“To the person who said we should ask his or her attorney about being able to smoke in their car on hospital grounds. When you get out of that car that smoke has to go somewhere. List your attorney’s name and let my attorney call your attorney.”
Complaints
“The weakness of this crowd today, who yet call themselves ‘Americans,’ often both amazes and depresses me. The whining of a state employee — I won’t dignify those on a government payroll with the word ‘worker’ unless they impress me by going the extra mile and giving a hundred and ten percent! — the other day about slightly missing his lunch period made me recall the hundreds of times I went without a meal at all, on his behalf, as his active duty Army officer, platoon leader, and public servant (which real-life service I challenge every non-vet civil service ’employee’ to take on and experience firsthand, before they utter one more word.)”
Useless
“This rainbow of threat alerts is useless. They announce a color change across the continental U.S. and just say ‘be alert.’ Thanks but we need more information.”
Information
“So terrorists are going to strike again. We don’t know when or where, though. Hey, I can get that information at the barber shop.”
Still don’t get it
“So, the smokers still don’t get it. Ever heard of second hand smoke? You don’t have the right to subject me or others to your second hand smoke!
“It only makes common sense that the hospital would be the first to take a stand on this issue being health related. I enjoy going to towns to eat where smoking is prohibited.
“I believe now it’s time for our local restaurants and government buildings to take notice and do the same.”
The proof
“Let’s see … smoking is proven to be bad for your health. The hospital is to help make you better. Second hand smoke is bad for me. What part of this do not understand? Your stupidity is showing.”
Other products?
“I was recently visiting a patient at Colquitt Regional Medical Center and noticed your facility is now smoke-free.
“I have one question: Does this include other tobacco products?”
