For Dec. 27

Not in vain

“I don’t believe that the soldiers who died in Vietnam died in vain. It was a different time, and we drew a line in the sand on communism and showed other people in the world that there were two sides to the issue. Like there has always been, freedom and submission.”

Immigration

“Thank God we now have a Congress that will enforce national immigration laws! My family of voters will support our congressman in every way on this issue.”

It is in the Bible

“To the poster that stated: The last time I checked, horoscopes are not mentioned in the Bible.

“I too thought the same until I recently accepted Jesus Christ back into my life.

“I had no idea this was of Satan. I did find references to it in the Bible after I was made aware. Daniel 4-7, Isaiah 47-13 and 14, Jeremiah 10-2, Jeremiah 27-9 just to name a few. There are many others.

“This seems to be a subject that isn’t brought up often and needs to be. You can’t know you are doing wrong if you aren’t made aware it is wrong.”

Tired of it

“I have grown tired of reading complaints about gas prices in Moultrie. Why don’t all you complainers pool your money and open your own gas station. Just think, you could sell it for whatever price you wanted to.

“If you sold it for 50 cents per gallon, maybe the complaints would stop.

“However, don’t ask me to invest in your station because you will not be in business very long.”

Honest person

“To the honest person who found and mailed us the lost Christmas card with the cash certificate inside, we would like to thank you for the true blessing your are to our society. God bless you always.”

Simply politics

“So the tobacco issue won’t be settled in 2004 because it is an election year?

“Politics never change. Let’s make sure our job is secure for another term before we wrinkle any feathers. Self preservation.

“And we are supposed to respect our lawmakers? Whatever happened to the concept of term limits. The Republicans were hot and heavy about that until they got the majority and now they would rather talk about something else.”

What I saw

“I watched a television special Thursday about all the corruption and uproar in college and pro sports. I had to explain to my son that not everyone is like that — that you still have people out there who have integrity. I’m afraid, however, that we don’t search these people out and uplift them as examples.”

Your help

“The comment about people helping other people during the holidays — I was one of those helped. I do appreciate it. When you are down and feel helpless and then someone shows you compassion — it makes you feel like keeping on and trying harder. It certainly renews your faith.

“To all those who helped someone else, you may never know how much you have touched a life but be assured that your love and generosity has an impact. Sure, there are those who abuse the help, but so many see it as a hand up.”
