For April 25
Too much Spock
“To the store clerk who saw the child beating. First, what is your definition of a beating? Spanking a child at home or in public is positive reinforcement when talking won’t do the job.
We have too many Dr. Spock children in the world today. By Dr. Spock children I mean, “spanking can warp your child and damage them for life.” Dr. Spock’s son committed suicide.
Have you noticed how young men and women act today. They are impolite, belligerent, curse like a Marine drill sergeant (girls and boys), have no respect for anyone including themselves.
Don’t get me wrong, this does not apply to all young men and women, some parents did not read Dr. Spock. Thank God. If you see me and my grandchildren out in public and they don’t mind, you will probably get to drop a dime on me too. We have spared the rod and spoiled the child too long.”
I agree
“I agree completely with the ‘illegals’ ranter, that, yes, while it is tempting for anyone to take advantage of cheap foreign labor, it is still wrong to sell out your own country (and your own neighbors’ jobs) for the sake of a few dollars whether you are a farm family, an industrial production owner, a chicken processing plant corporation, or in the construction business. It is all wrong, wrong, wrong for the future of our own country and our own grandchildren!”
My position
“I refuse to take work home, stay late or go to work early anymore unless it directly involves the needs of students such as extra help.
“I’m tired of prostituting myself for parents who don’t care and for bosses who don’t have a clue as to what goes on in a real classroom today.
“Test scores stink because so many homes have no books in them or there are guardians who collect welfare and have no work ethic outside of going to the store for a bottle and some lottery tickets.
“That being said, teaching is still a great job.”
Visit with me
“I encourage the person who complained about teacher salaries and teacher time off to spend a day with me in my classroom and follow me this summer as I attend grad school. You would last through lunch at school and my summer schedule would interfere with your vacation.”
Excellent system
“I am proud to be a teacher in our local system! We have an excellent system. Excellence is no accident. It comes from dedicated professionals who work hard year round to provide the children of Colquitt County with the best possible education. Many teachers attend school at night and in the summer to gain new skills and sharpen old skills so that our students can succeed.”
My Yankee
“In response to the way Southerners feel about Yankees. Let me tell you about my Yankee.
I was born in Alabama and lived most of my life in Georgia. And I love the South. However, when I became pregnant, my South Georgia boyfriend, quickly dumped me and our unborn son.
“After the birth of our son, I met a Yankee from Ohio who was more than willing to step in and be my son’s father.
“My son’s Southern daddy has never even sent him a birthday card, so don’t put all Yankees down. There are some Yankees that put the Southern men to shame.”
