MOULTRIE — Philip Afton Rhodes, 77, of 149 Suwanee Road in Moultrie, died Monday, June 28, 2004, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Pinecrest Memory Gardens. The Rev. James Sellers will be officiating. Honorary casketbearers include James Weldon, Billy Yarbrough, Andy Rhodes, Michael Rhodes, Michael Thompson and R.J. Sellers.

Born Aug. 20, 1926, in Colquitt County, Mr. Rhodes was the son of the late Bertha Sampson Rhodes and the late Andrew Milton Rhodes. He was a retired general contractor and a member of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by parents; four brothers, Charles Rhodes, Milton Rhodes, Jack Rhodes and George Rhodes; three sisters, Florrie Rhodes, Louise Rhodes Price and Gladys Rhodes Collins; and daughter Vicki Lynne Rhodes Albazzaz and husband Dr. Sabah Albazzaz.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Weldon Rhodes; an adopted son, Vincent Rhodes (formerly Tariq Albazzaz); a sister, Gwendolyn Rhodes Smith of Concord, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



Juliet Lewis

MOULTRIE – Ms. Juliet Lewis, 38, of Moultrie died Thursday, June 24, 2004, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at Live Oak Baptist Church with the Rev. J.W. Greene Jr. and the Rev. Evans Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Pallbearers Cemetery No. 2. Rufus Kemp, James Wilcox, Steve Reynolds, Anthony Martin, Jerry Smith and Jerome McBride will serve as pallbearers.

Born April 1, 1966, in Colquitt County, Ms. Lewis was the daughter of Louise Blakely Lewis and the late Evans Lewis.

She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Mary Dean Lewis Tolbert of New Jersey.

Survivors include her mother; a son, Patrick Bernard Dawson of Moultrie; two daughters, Shauntika Latoya Dawson and Tiffany Latoya McBride, both of Moultrie; four brothers, Evans Lewis Jr. of Atlanta, Willie Lewis of Moultrie, Nehemiah Lewis of Newark, N.J., and Ronald Lewis of Moultrie; and eight sisters, twin sister Judy Lewis Pullins of Atlanta, Juanita Roberts of Irvington, N.J., Thelma Langley of Greenville, S.C., Linda Lewis, Olivia Lewis, Cassandra Williams, Stephanie Lewis Cobb and Sylvia Denise Lewis, all of Moultrie.

The family may be contacted at 732 Joe Lewis Ave., Moultrie.Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 tonight at Luke Strong and Son Mortuary Chapel.

Billy Wayne Shaw

NORMAN PARK — Billy Wayne Shaw, 56, of Norman Park, died Monday June 28, 2004, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Chapel. Internment will follow at Brushy Creek Church Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Lawrence will be officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Jane Yeomans Shaw of Norman Park, and a son, Bryan Wayne Shaw and wife Debbie of Norman Park.

Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home in Adel is in charge of arrangements.



Sharon Merrit

MOULTRIE — Sharon Merrit of Moultrie died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at her home.

Arrangements will be announced by Strong Funeral Home.



William B. Eunice Jr.

PANAMA CITY, Fla. — William B. Eunice Jr., 84, of Panama City, Fla., died Monday, June 28, 2004, at Emerald Shores in Panama City.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Albritton officiating. Interment will follow at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

Born July 16, 1919, in Worth County, Mr. Eunice was the son of the late Lona Baldree Eunice and William Burl Eunice Sr. He was formerly a route carrier for The Moultrie Observer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Rudine Johnson Eunice, and his son, Jerry Eunice.

Survivors include one daughter, Anne Wynn and husband Bob of Panama City; one brother, Curtis Eunice of Oxford; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
