Lucille Zeigler

MOULTRIE — Lucille Zeigler, 70, of Moultrie died Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville.

Services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Leroy Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Pallbearers Cemetery No. 2. Eddie Zeigler, Leon Zeigler, Xavier Martin, Glenn Zeigler, Emanuel Zeigler and Winston Bailey will serve as pallbearers.

Born Jan. 20, 1935, in Mitchell County, Mrs. Zeigler was the daughter of the late Albert Knighton and the late Henrietta Edwards Knighton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Rose Maria Zeigler; four brothers, Cleveland Neal, Jimmy Lee Knighton, Albert Knighton Jr. and Lonnie Knighton; and two sisters, Wylene Horne Spradley and Mattie Ree Toomer Suggs.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. James Edward Zeigler of West Palm Beach, Fla.; five sons, Eddie Zeigler and wife Willa Mae and Leon Zeigler and wife Vivian, all of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Mitchell Zeigler, Adrian Zeigler and Mark Zeigler, all of Moultrie; five daughters, Dorothy Zeigler of West Palm Beach and Margaret Sutton and husband Jesse, Henrietta Howard and husband Winston, Phyllis Washington and Teressa Zeigler, all of Moultrie; two brothers, Willie Knighton Sr. and wife Ray Jean and William Knighton and wife Margaret, all of Moultrie; one sister, Pearlie Knighton of Dearfield, Fla.; 40 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Patricia Hester Williams

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Patricia Hester Williams, 62, of St. Augustine, Fla., died Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at Kotrady-Hudgins-Croyle Funeral Home in St. Augustine. Pastor Charles Hunt officiated.

A native of Moultrie, Mrs. Williams had lived in St. Augustine since 1980, moving there from Jacksonville, Fla. She was a graduate of Massey Business College in Jacksonville and had worked for BellSouth for many years.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Richard Williams of St. Augustine; one daughter, Avalon Edwards of St. Augustine; one sister, Margie Hester Wynn of Moultrie; one brother, Walter Lee Hester of Albany; and two grandchildren.

Kotrady-Hudgins-Croyle Funeral Home of St. Augustine was in charge of arrangements.



Barbara Hatcher Morgan

MIAMI — Barbara Hatcher Morgan, 87, of Miami, formerly of Moultrie, died Monday, May 16, 2005, at her residence.

A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at Vienna United Methodist Church with the Rev. Shane Green officiating. A graveside service will follow at Vienna City Cemetery.

A resident of Miami for the past 10 years, Mrs. Morgan was the daughter of the late Herschel and Ruth Hatcher of Moultrie. Her three children were born in Moultrie, where she visited frequently throughout her life, keeping in contact with many close friends.

Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Pierpont Morgan; two sisters, Bootsie Hatcher Hunt and Jerry Hatcher Clower; and a son, Horace Morgan Jr.

Survivors include a daughter, Kitty Morgan and husband Bill Rothman of Miami; a son, John Morgan and wife Jude of Fairfield, Conn.; a brother, Herschel Hatcher Jr. of Decatur; five grandchildren, Matthew Morgan of Tucker, Alison Morgan of Brooklyn, N.Y., Susannah Morgan of Snellville and Alexandra Morgan and Nathaniel Morgan, both of Fairfield; and many nieces and nephews.

Joseph Lamar Fowler

MORROW — Joseph Lamar Fowler, 58, of Morrow died Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 27, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Stripling officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Roger Ruis, Ferrell Ruis, Bobby Ruis, Malcolm Walters, Jerry Walters and Cecil Fowler.

Born June 25, 1946, in Colquitt County, Mr. Fowler was the son of Mildred Eubanks Fowler and the late Joseph Roscoe Fowler. He was a retired parts checker with General Motors and was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Fowler was preceded in death by a brother, Burt Itson.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Borgh Fowler of Morrow; a son, Jason Lamar Fowler of Jonesboro; a daughter, Rhonda Alexander of Clayton County; his mother, Mildred Eubanks Fowler of Moultrie; a brother, Carlos Lavane Fowler of Moultrie; and two grandchildren, Jasee Ann Fowler and Coleman Alexander.

Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the funeral chapel.

Carolyn Tompkins

CENTERVILLE — Carolyn Tompkins, 65, of Centerville died Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins.

Funeral arrangements will be annouced by Baker Funeral Home.



Jessie Lee Howard

MOULTRIE — Jessie Lee Howard, 55, of Moultrie died Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at Live Oak Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. John W. Greene Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Strong Memorial Gardens. Michael Lee, Sedrick Paige, Michael Esther, Ricky Grier, Antonio Johnson and Chad Daniels will serve as casketbearers. The class of 1968 will serve as honorary casketbearers.

Born March 18, 1950, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Howard was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Daniels Sr. She was a homemaker and a member of Live Oak Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Reuben Whitfield; two sisters, Susie Mae Johnson and Madine Wooten; and a grandson, Artabious Howard.

Survivors include her husband, Willie Joe Howard of Moultrie; a son, Frederick Bernard Howard Sr. and wife Tyra of Moultrie; four brothers, Robert Daniels and wife Ester and Arthur Whitfield, all of Moultrie, Abraham Whitfield of Philadelphia and John Willie Daniels of Berlin; three sisters, Essie Lee, Johnnie Mae Daniels and Katie Mae Daniels, all of Moultrie; a sister-in-law, Willie Nelson and husband Joe; an aunt, Alma Daniels of Thomasville; five grandchildren, Ashley Enoch, Zy-Keri Duncan, Quantavian Howard, Tranasia Howard and Frederick Howard Jr.; her best friend, Julia Shy; devoted friends Precious, Gwendolyn, Margaret, Joan, Wylene and Annie Ruth; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at 133 Arrow Head Lane in Moultrie.
