Christine Louise Croy Cannon

PAVO — Christine Louise Croy Cannon, 67, of Pavo died Tuesday, March 23, 2005, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Moultrie with the Rev. John L. Bell Sr. officiating, assisted by the Rev. John L. Bell Jr. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Moultrie. Members of Ms. Cannon’s church family will serve as casketbearers.

Born June 17, 1937, in Colquitt County, Ms. Cannon was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Croy and the late Ella Jane Kelley Croy-Hester. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Tabernacle Church.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Cannon, and a granddaughter, Melanie Cannon.

Survivors include three sons, David Cannon of Pavo, Cecil Cannon and wife Maria of Crawfordville, Fla., and Wayne Cannon and wife Donna of Gainesville, Ga.; two daughters, Elaine Cannon and Yvonne Cannon, both of Pavo; a brother, Milton Croy and wife Marlene of Thomasville; four grandchildren, Michael Cannon, Matthew Cannon, Melissa Cannon and Amber Cannon; two stepgrandchildren, Chris Cannon and Anna Cannon; and a great-grandchild, Alexandria Cannon.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 28, at the funeral home.

Maxine Gwendolyn Jordan Gordon

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — Maxine Gwendolyn Jordan Gordon, 90, of Ormond Beach, Fla., died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Graveside rites will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, at Union Cemetery with the Rev. Shane Ashley officiating.

Born Aug. 26, 1914, in Colquitt County, Ms. Gordon was the daughter of the late Clara Hill Jordan and the late Benjamin Jefferson Jordan. She was a grocery store owner and a homemaker who managed the family farm. Ms. Gordon was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oris Milton Gordon, and a brother, Jeff Jordan.

Survivors include a son, Travis Gordon and wife Judy of Ormond Beach; two grandsons, Gregg Gordon and Mark Gordon, both of Ormond Beach; and a great-granddaughter, Ariana Gordon of Ormond Beach.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

James Howard Shaw

MOULTRIE — James Howard Shaw, 53, of Moultrie died Friday, March 25, 2005, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Bird officiating. Burial will follow at Hartsfield Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Ricky Sherling, Franklin Miller, Carlton Williams and David Hufstetler.

Born June 3, 1951, in Moultrie, Mr. Shaw was the son of the late Howard Shaw and the late Edna Hartley Shaw. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara DeNeve.

Survivors include a son, Shannon DeWitt Shaw; an aunt, Christine H. Baker; three cousins, Diane Webb, Donna Robinson and Sharon Chavers; a niece, Debra Thornberry and husband Don; and a nephew, Stacy DeNeve and wife Judy.

Visitation will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Grace Vera Adams Carter

BERLIN — Grace Vera Adams Carter, 71, of Berlin died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at Green Terrace.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 27, at Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church in Berlin with the Rev. James Sellers officiating. The family will hold a private interment at Sardis Cemetery at a later date. Bailey Carter, Caleb English, Michael Carter and Daniel Dampier will serve as casketbearers.

Born May 21, 1933, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Carter was the daughter of the late Estelle Cannon Adams and the late Ed Adams. She was a retired employee of the City of Moultrie and of Maule Air.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd David Carter; and a son-in-law, Frankie Dampier.

Survivors include three sons, Chuck English and wife Connie of Hartsfield, Mike Carter and wife Sheila of Scooterville and Wes Carter of Moultrie; a daughter, Tonda Dampier of Moultrie; a sister, Hassie Taylor of Double Springs, Ala.; 10 grandchildren, Caleb English, Brett English, Lacey English, Michael Carter, Mercedes Carter, Adrian Salazar, Bailey Carter, Kaitlin Carter, Daniel Dampier and Rachel Dampier; and a great-grandchild, Deven Salazar.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
