Pauline Griffin Dean

OCHLOCKNEE — Pauline Griffin Dean, 88, of Ochlocknee died Monday, July 25, 2005, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Morris Griffin officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Berlin. Carlos Dean, Scotty Dean, Jody Dean, Anthony Dean, Timmy Dean, Stacy Bozeman, Buck Bizzell Jr. and Jeremy Dean will serve as casketbearers.

Born Jan. 6, 1917, in Homasassa, Fla., Mrs. Dean was the daughter of the late John Griffin and the late Jane Taylor Griffin. She was a homemaker and was of the Freewill Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Lacy Dean; two sons, Clarence Billy Dean Jr. and Randall Lacy Dean; a daughter, Martha Royals; and a brother, LaVern Thompson.

Survivors include a son, Johnny Dean and wife Stella of Vidalia; three daughters, Betty Dean of Cairo and Judy Bizzell and husband Buck and Linda Kersey and husband Edward, all of Tifton; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Mary Shaw Odom

MOULTRIE — Mary Shaw Odom, 66, of Moultrie died Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare in Tallahassee, Fla.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Shafter Scott officiating. Interment will follow at Bealsville Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include a daughter, Edna Pearl Brannon; two sons, the Rev. Robert Clark of Moultrie and Delmus Clark of Reidsville; her mother, Lizzie Shaw; six sisters, Pauline Shaw of Jacksonville, Fla., and Hattie Oliver, Jeanette Thorton, Lizzie Kate Shaw, Linda Shaw and Geraldine Shaw, all of Plant City; and seven brothers, John Shaw, Joseph Shaw, Samuel Shaw, William Shaw and Robert Shaw, all of Plant City, and George Shaw and Charles Shaw, both of Lakeland, Fla.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 29, at Winslow Honors Funeral Chapel in Plant City.

Jestina B. Lewis

MOULTRIE — Jestina B. Lewis, 84, of Moultrie died Sunday, July 24, 2005, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at Mother Easter Baptist Church with the Rev. E.H. Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Pallbearers Cemetery No. 1. Deacons of Mother Easter Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Born Nov. 22, 1920, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Lewis was the daughter of the late Walter Bradberry and the late Roselle Bradberry. She served on several community boards, including at Moultrie Area Technical Institute, Southwest Georgia Community Action Council, Inc., Georgia Federation of Colored Women’s Clubs, Inc., American Cancer Society and Odom Genealogical Library Board. She was named the Colquitt County “Woman of the Year” by the Chamber of Commerce in 1987, and she was a member of Lambda Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

She was a member of Mother Easter Baptist Church and served on the church’s deaconess board, trustee board, the Burlah Harrington Missionary Circle and as a Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School director, youth director and chairperson of the Centennial Anniversary Celebration of Mother Easter Baptist Church. She was an assistant director of the Baptist Girls’ Camp held annually at Camp John Hope in Fort Valley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rheubin Ozell Lewis Sr.

Survivors include a son, Rheubin O. Lewis Jr. of Savannah; two daughters, Roselyn Lewis of Atlanta and Barbara Lewis Jelks and husband Chester of Moultrie; three grandchildren, Jestina Jelks Singletary and husband Brad and Janelle Jelks, all of Moultrie, and Adrian Jelks of Chicago; four great-grandchildren, Khalyn, Timia, Quenton and Jaden; four cousins, Juanita Lee Varner of Thomasville, Dorothy Jean Anderson Mills of Atlanta, William G. Anderson of Detroit and Wallace Young of Moultrie; a devoted friend, Pauline Moreland Brevard of Moultrie; and a host of other relatives and friends.

An Ivy Beyond the Wall ceremony and visitation will be held from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends at the home of Chester and Barbara Lewis Jelks, 1316 Third St. S.E. in Moultrie.

Memorial donations may be made to the J.B. Lewis Scholarship Fund with checks made payable to Mother Easter Baptist Church.

Lois Weeks Gordon

MOULTRIE — Lois Weeks Gordon, 92, of Moultrie died Monday, July 25, 2005, at Magnolia Manor South Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 28, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. J.L. Rowan officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Dan Gay, Bobby Gay, Pete Perkins, Brett Asbell, Dion Croft and Dave Chrisley will serve as casketbearers.

Born Feb. 28, 1913, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Gordon was the daughter of the late Georgia Anne Norman Weeks and the late Joseph Daniel Weeks. She was a homemaker and a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie J. Gordon.

Survivors include a son, Jack D. Gordon and wife Trudy of Moultrie; four grandchildren, Judy Gay and husband Jack, Gisela M. Smith and special friend Steve, and Margaret Gordon, all of Moultrie, and Sherry Jean Gordon Chrisley and husband Dave of Bowling Green, Ky.; six great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Rosemary Futch Dees

MOULTRIE — Rosemary Futch Dees, 66, of Moultrie died Monday, July 25, 2005, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Steve Comer officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. Cory Fletcher, Blake Fletcher, Alex Cone, Justin Fletcher, Clif Cone and Brandon Lane will serve as casketbearers.

Born Nov. 16, 1938, in Mitchell County, Mrs. Dees was the daughter of the late Cynthia Futch Tyson Holderby and the late Harry Laurie Tyson. She was a certified nurses assistant at Brownwood Nursing Home and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Dees Jr.; and two brothers, Wallace Tyson and Harry L. “Buddy” Tyson.

Survivors include three sons, Earl C. Cone Jr. of Havelock, N.C., Charles D. Cone of Cairo and William C. Cone of Moultrie; three daughters, Mary Anne Cone Fletcher and husband Glenn of Summerville and Jeanette Cone Kilgore and Ruth R. Cone, both of Moultrie; three brothers, Homer Tyson of Pelham, Huey Tyson of Meigs and Hershel Tyson of Lexington, Ga.; five sisters, Carmen Johnson of Moultrie, Gayle Johnson of Sylvester, Marsha McKinney of Arnoldsville, Sylvia Boggs of Lexington, Ga., and Nancy Harper of Austell; and 10 grandchildren, Cory Fletcher, Justin Fletcher, Blake Fletcher, Ryan Fletcher, Clif Cone, Alex Cone, Marshall Cone, Travis Cone, Amanda Sellers and Casey Kilgore.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

MOULTRIE — Doris Scott “Sally” Taylor, 88, of Moultrie died Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at her residence.

Richard “Rivers” Peach

ADEL — Richard “Rivers” Peach, 60, of Adel died Monday, July 25, 2005, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 29, at Morven United Methodist Church in Morven with the Rev. Larry Houser officiating. In keeping with Mr. Peach’s wishes, cremation will follow the service.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Hartley Peach of Adel; two sons, Michael Peach of Los Angeles and Robert Ancrisanio of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three daughters, Nicole Herrera of Los Angeles, Angela Morris of Charlotte, N.C., and Monica Johnson of Finnville, Mich.; a brother, Chan Peach of California; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
