Marie Clark Swain
THOMASVILLE — Marie Clark Swain, 87, of Thomasville died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at her residence.
Services will be held at noon Thursday, Dec. 23, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Pavo with the Rev. Estelle Arrington officiating and the Rev. Clarence Parker assisting. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Grandsons of Mrs. Swain will serve as pallbearers.
Born May 5, 1917, in Wilcox County, Mrs. Swain was the daughter of the late George and Dora Clark.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Swain Sr.; a daughter, Hattie Mae Swain; and three sons, Arthur Swain Jr., Lewis Swain and Willie James Swain.
Survivors include five daughters, Mary Medley White and husband Frank White of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Elaine Cage and Mary E. Morrow and husband Edward Morrow Sr., all of Atlanta, Ann Wright and husband Larry Wright Sr. of Knoxville, Tenn., and Catherine Swain of Thomasville; one son, Freddie Swain Sr. and wife Phecifinese of Albany; 23 grandchildren, Patricia, Daryl, Valerie, Myeka, Renae, Richard, Robin, Johnny Lewis, Joyce, Lewis, Kathy, Troy, Stewart, Saundra, Djana, Cornelius, Christopher, Desmond, Edward, Freddie, Jasmine, Larry and Michael; 25 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight in the chapel of Luke Strong and Son Mortuary.
Luke Strong and Son Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Barbara Jo Erskine Woodard
OMEGA — Barbara Jo Erskine Woodard, 51, of Omega died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals in Tifton with the Rev. Frank Morris officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Lonnie “Boogie” Scarbor, Jason Hawkins, Jess Brooks, Brad Golden, Steven Golden and Chris Overstreet.
Mrs. Woodard was born Jan. 24, 1953, in Tift County. She was the daughter of Joseph Henry Erskine and Barbara Allen Erskine, both of Whigham. She worked for Target Corp. and was a member of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Woodard had lived in Omega for 25 years.
She is also survived by her husband, Curtis F. Woodard of Omega; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Chad and Carla Erskine, Mark and Allison Erskine, Ricky Woodard and Billy Woodard, all of Omega; a daughter and son-in-law, Selinda “Cindy” and Wade Daughtry of Omega; two brothers, Allen Erskine of Cairo and Bill Erskine of Omega; one sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Tony Tucker of Tifton; her best friend, Linda Rutland of Eldorado; and nine grandchildren.
Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
