Hansel C. Spivey

PEARSON — Mr. Hansel C. Spivey, 69, of Pearson died Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 25, at Ozias Freewill Baptist Church in Pearson with the Rev. Larry Johnson, the Rev. Donnie Sloan and the Rev. Leroy Spivey officiating. Graveside services will follow at 4 p.m. at Kimball Methodist Church Cemetery in Worth County. Following graveside services, the family will gather at the home of Bertha and Kevin Pierce in Doerun.

Mr. Spivey was the son of Tillman Spivey and the late Linnie Mae Davis Spivey. He was a retired metal fabricator and of the Freewill Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany, Korea and Vietnam.

Survivors include his wife, Lavada Sellers Spivey of Pearson; his son, H.C. Spivey Jr. and wife Susan of Tifton; five daughters, Ruth Burch of Axson, Barbara Posey and husband Tommy of Coolidge, Bertha Pierce and husband Kevin of Doerun, Carol Tillery of Norman Park and Melissa McKinnon and husband Rusty of Douglas; his father, Tillman Spivey of Douglas; two sisters, Rosa Lee Hester and Hazel Whitley, both of Douglas; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight at Ricketson Funeral Home in Douglas.

Celious White Jr.

MOULTRIE — Mr. Celious White Jr. of Moultrie died Friday, March 19, 2004, at Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27, at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Corey McGee officiating. Burial will follow in St. James Pallbearers Cemetery No. 2. Benjamin McGee, Dovan McGee, Jamal Lee, Eytwain Corbin, Emmitt Corbin Jr. and Markil Kendricks will serve as pallbearers.

Born Sept. 6, 1944, in Colquitt County, Mr. White was the son of the late Celious White Sr. and Mary Louise Anderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Elbert White; one sister, Eve Mae Thomas; and one uncle, James Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley T. White of Moultrie; four sons, Donnie McGee of Rochester, N.Y., Cecil White of Dale Ray, Fla., and the Rev. Corey McGee and Deleon White and wife Shiren, all of Moultrie; three daughters, Brenda James and husband Sammy, Carolyn Coates and husband Anthony and Verna Yates and husband Rickie, all of Moultrie; one brother, Steve Henry of Miami, Fla.; one godbrother, Willie Robinson of Adel; three sisters, Aggie Mae Williams, Betty Mae White and Arlene White, all of Moultrie; two uncles, Sammy Anderson and James Love, both of Moultrie; a special friend, Willie (Lee) Adams; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins and friends.

James E. Turner

MOULTRIE — Mr. James E. Turner, 19, of Moultrie died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27, at Live Oak Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Love officiating. Burial will be follow in St. James Pallbearers Cemetery No. 1. Robbie Patterson, Eric Gudes, Willie Carr Jr., Kenneth Bailey, Milton Carr III and Marcus Hayward will serve as pallbearers.

Born Oct. 10, 1984, in Colquitt County, Mr. Turner was the son of Betty Jean Turner and James Edward Williams. He attended Colquitt County High School and was a member of Philco Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mattie Jordan Madison, and his grandfather, David Jordan.

Survivors include his mother, Betty Jean Turner of Moultrie; his father, James Edward Williams of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Kimberly Turner and Michelle Spence, both of Moultrie; four brothers, Demitrius Turner, Paul Turner Jr. and Kenyatoi Williams, Zoe Williams and Latrikeus Turner and wife Janet, all of Moultrie; his grandmother, Lula Bell Davis of Moultrie; two nephews, Latrikeus Turner Jr. and Latraveus Turner; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Barbara Gregory

MOULTRIE — Barbara Gregory, 66, of Moultrie died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 26, at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. J.E. Moak officiating and the Rev. Jerry Mahan assisting. Casketbearers will be Troy Long, Tommy Marshall, Pat McCrary, Alan Mathis, Billy Gay and Don Croft.

Born Sept. 7, 1937, in Colquitt County, Gregory was the daughter of Ethel Sumner Gregory and the late Rev. Troy Columbus Gregory. Gregory, who held a doctorate, was a retired educator and a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school, Ladies Community Bible studies and Discipleship courses. She served the Colquitt County School System as English teacher, lead reading teacher and assistant principal at C.A. Gray Middle School.

She was preceded in death by her father, the Rev. Troy Columbus Gregory.

Survivors include her mother, Ethel Sumner Gregory; two sisters, LaNelle Gregory Plaza and husband Carl of Waycross and Laverne Gregory Blevins; four nieces, Lorri McCrary and husband Pat, Donna Marshall and husband Tommy, Dena Mathis and husband Alan, and Holli Majewski and husband Allen; one nephew, Troy Wayne Long and wife Alison of Waycross; seven great nieces; and two great nephews.

The family requests that any memorials be made to American Cancer Society or First Baptist Church Discipleship Committee.
