J.W. Dean
MOULTRIE — J.W. Dean, 70, of 728 13th St. S.W., died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today, Nov. 2, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with burial at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Mark Jordan and the Rev. John O’Neal will officiate. Casketbearers will be Brandon Jordan, Barry Watson, Jared Young, Chris Hall, Tony Arnold and Heath Sellars. Honorary casketbearers will be Michael McDougale, Kristen Young, Keshia Gandy and Ashlei Arnold.
Mr. Dean was born Feb. 1, 1933, in Brooks County to the late Ola Dean Dean and the late J.T. Dean. He was a retired produce farmer and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Purvis Dean of Moultrie; daughters, Debra Hall and husband Danny of Quitman, Barbara Franklin and husband Larry of Valdosta and Patricia Smithie of Madison, Fla.; stepdaughters, Sarah Purvis and Christine Hall and husband Denvelle, all of Moultrie; a stepson, Billy Purvis of Moultrie; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Jimmy Purvis; a daughter, Cheryl Dean; and a brother, Arthur Dean.

Guy Leslie Hunter Sr.
NORMAN PARK — Guy Leslie Hunter Sr., 91, of 3355 Cool Springs Road, Norman Park, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at Magnolia Manor South.
Graveside rites will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, at Sardis Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Voyles officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Hunter was born Feb. 8, 1912, in Colquitt County to the late Dollie Hiers Hunter and the late William Rice Hunter. He was a farmer and had retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation. He was a Baptist.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Laura Lairsey Hunter, and two children, Phyllis A. Shiver and Jeffrey Lynn Hunter.
Survivors include sons, Billy W. Hunter of Lilburn, Guy L. Hunter Jr. of Jacksonville, N.C., Robin F. Hunter of Moultrie, Roger C. Hunter of Colorado Springs, Colo., Junius A. Hunter of Wake Forest, N.C., and Jerry F. Hunter of Great Falls, Va.; daughters, Peggy H. Johnson of Norman Park, Patricia H. Martin of Hanahan, S.C., and Alice H. Bonar of Hamilton, Ohio; a sister, Iris White of Okeechobee, Fla.; 19 grandchildren, Richard C. Shiver, Charles Hunter Shiver, Angela J. Johnson, Jennifer Johnson Lunsford, Kahler L. Hunter, Glynn Jackson, Patrick W. Hunter, Marshall L. Hunter, Guy L. (Trip) Hunter III, Debra Duval, Laura C. Hunter, Elizabeth Hunter, William Raymond Hunter, Genevieve Elizabeth Bonar, Joseph David Bonar, James Fitzgerald Bonar, Paula Elizabeth Hunter, Craig S. Hunter and Jacob S. Hunter; and 10 great-grandchildren, Shaun Shiver, Stacey Shiver, Ashley Shiver, Kenzal Hunter, Matthew Hunter, Molly Malcolm Hunter, Laney Mae Hunter, Patrick Winston Hunter, Guy Hunter IV and Olivia Rose Hunter.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Cobb Funeral Chapel. The family may be contacted at 215 R. Johnson Road, Norman Park.

Blanche Sarah Williams Rosencrantz
NORMAN PARK — Blanche Sarah Williams Rosencrantz, 82, of 214 Cool Springs Road, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at Sunrise Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with interment at Deep Bottom Cemetery. The Rev. J.E. Moak will officiate.
Mrs. Rosencrantz was born Oct. 13, 1921, in Colquitt County to the late Sallie Strawder Williams and the late Samuel Morgan Williams. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Rosencrantz.
Survivors include her son, Wayne Samuel “Bo” Rosencrantz of Moultrie; two daughters, Lynda Smith of Norman Park and Carolyn Doughtry of Moultrie; a special cousin, Billy Jackson of Albany; five grandchildren, CeCe Hunt, Wes Rosencrantz, Toni Large, Alicia Smith and Milynda Smith; and five great-grandchildren, Jeremy Hunt, Tyler Hunt, Kaycee Cross, Jennifer Cross and Zackery Cross.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today, Nov. 2, at Cobb Funeral Chapel. The family may be contacted at the home of Lynda Smith, 228 Cool Springs Road, Norman Park.

Evelyn Shephard
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Evelyn Shephard, 77, a retired bookkeeper for Lively Technical College, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003. She is survived by her husband, John T. Shephard.
The service will be at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 2, at Words of Life Church of God, 870 Blountstown Highway, Tallahassee, with burial at Oakland Cemetery there.
A native of Paris, Texas, Mrs. Shephard moved to Tallahassee from Moultrie, Ga., in 1949. She was a member of Words of Life Church of God.
Other survivors include a daughter, Marion S. Earley and husband Edward of Havana, Fla.; two brothers, Ronald Lewis of Moultrie and Robert Lewis of Houston, Texas; a sister, Ruth Brown of Moultrie; four grandchildren, Heather Simpson, Diane Williams and husband Marcus, Carol Roland and husband Jeremy, and Dory Simpson, all of Tallahassee; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Helen Lewis of Moultrie; and her former son-in-law, Buddy Simpson of Tallahassee.
Bevis Funeral Home and Crematory, Tallahassee, is in charge of arrangements.

THOMASVILLE — James Gray, 59, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, in Thomasville.
