Preston R. Hufstetler

TY TY — Preston R. Hufstetler, 61, of Whiddon Mill Road, Ty Ty, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 14, at Banks Funeral Home with burial to follow at Sumner Cemetery. The Rev. Gordon Poole will officiate.

Among his survivors are his wife, Della Latimer Hufstetler of Ty Ty; one son and daughter-in-law, David P. and Karen Hufstetler of Moultrie; one daughter and son-in-law, Christine and David Morris of Moultrie; and his parents, Sylvan and Reba Hufstetler of Ty Ty.

Banks Funeral Home of Sylvester is in charge of arrangements.



James Thomas Newton Jr.

MOULTRIE — James Thomas Newton Jr., 77, of 26th Avenue Southeast, Moultrie, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Cobb Funeral Chapel.



William Jefferson Chappell Sr.

CARROLLTON — William Jefferson Chappell Sr., 84, of Hamp Chappell Road, Carrollton, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.

Mr. Chappell was born Oct. 13, 1917, in Carroll County to the late Carrie Faver and Wade Hampton “Hamp” Chappell. He was a retired businessman and a member of the Lowell United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his four children, Esthera Hudson Chappell; two sons, Charles Hampton Chappell and Wade Hudson Chappell; one grandson, Marcus Lamar Dalton; a sister, Mary Chappell Burns; brothers, Clay Chappell, Hoke Chappell, Hugh Chappell and Wade Chappell, all formerly of Lowell, Ga.; and wife Lucile Pidcock Chappell.

Survivors include his wife, Caroline Hollingsworth Chappell of Carrollton; one son, William “Bill” Jefferson Chappell Jr. of Carrollton; daughter, Carroll Chappell Dalton of Moultrie; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Wade Alexander and Flynn Hyatt Chappell of Dunwoody; three granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Dr. Laura Chappell Cazier and Dr. Jeff Cazier of Winston-Salem, N.C., Michelle Dalton and Brice Spencer Moss of Gaffney, S.C., and Cari Esthera Dalton and grandson Michael Todd Dalton, both of Moultrie; two great-grandchildren, Dalton Brice Moss and Hudson Marcus Moss of Gaffney, S.C.; sisters, Dorothy Chappell Meyers of Marshville, Ga., Raye C. Wood of Fargo, Fla., Faye C. Carroll of Kissimmee, Fla., and Martha C. Schulte of Swathmore, Pa.; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today, Oct. 13, at Martin and Hightower Heritage Chapel with the Rev. Sharon Coley, the Rev. Terry Wellham and Mayor Gerald Pilgrim officiating. Pallbearers will be members of the family and church family. Entombment will follow in the Lowell Cemetery.

Martin and Hightower Heritage Chapel of Carrollton has charge of the arrangements.
