Edgar (Russell) Morris
ALBANY — Edgar (Russell) Morris, 78, of Albany died Monday, April 8, 2002, at Palmyra Medical Center.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, April 11, at Sherwood Baptist Church Chapel with Ross Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
A native of Colquitt County, Mr. Morris had lived in Albany for the past 50 years, moving from Birmingham, Ala. He was a welder, retiring from S.J. Curry, which is now Alcon Construction Company, after 30 years. He was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Morris.
Survivors include his wife, Ola Smith Morris of Albany; a son, Frank Morris of Leesburg; a brother, Milford Linton Morris of Milledgeville; and a grandson, Stephen Morris of Leesburg.

Thomas Harold Bass
DOERUN — Thomas Harold Bass, 75, of Doerun died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James “Shot” Sellers and Mr. David Bass officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Sinai Cemetery in Doerun. Pallbearers will be Tracey Webb, Steve Bass, John Bass, Stanley Bass, Frank Davis and Eugene Perryman. Honorary pallbearers will be Lamar Sullivan, Hubert Bass, Ronnie Demott, Kenneth Bass, Rondo Gay, Dale Demott, Gary Morey, Lester Allen and Bryant Bass.
Born May 28, 1926, in Colquitt County, Mr. Bass was the son of the late Laura Isabella Stephenson Bass and the Rev. W.R. “Bob” Bass. He was a farmer and a member of Hartsfield Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Kaye Bass; and brothers and sisters, Mildred B. Sullivan, the Rev. Roger Bass, Robert Bass, the Rev. Julian Bass, Inez B. Kelley, the Rev. Edwin Bass, Annie Laura B. Morey and Mary Grace Bass.
Survivors include his wife, Shelby Jean Bryan Bass of Doerun; daughters, Martha Bass Shores and husband Sam of Snellville, and Gwen Bass Lussan and husband Kenneth of Covington, La.; stepchildren, Andy Benton of Ft. Valley, Karen Rumph of Ketchikan, Alaska, and Joy Hortman and husband Greg of Warner Robins; a sister, Bonnie Nell Bentley and husband Ray of Hartsfield; his mother-in-law, Edna Bryan of Moultrie; the mother of his children, Lillie Merle Bass of Covington, La.; grandchildren, Stephen Shores and wife Michele of Duluth, Ryan Shores of Snellville and Meryl Lussan of Covington, La.; stepgrandchildren, Jamie Rumph and wife Sheri of Gainesville, Fla., Cory Hortman and Caleigh Hortman, both of Warner Robins.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. on Friday at the funeral chapel.

Mr. Charles Martin
DOERUN — Mr. Charles Martin, 56, of Doerun died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be held at noon on Saturday, April 13, at Bailey Chapel AME with the Rev. Bernard Collien officiating. Burial will be in Dunk Smith Cemetery in Doerun. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Born Jan. 14, 1946, in Colquitt County, Mr. Martin was the son of the late Major and Bertha Martin Sr. He was self-employed, owning a cleaning service.
Survivors include a son, Greg Martin of Florence, S.C.; six brothers, Joseph Martin (Mary) of Amityville, N.Y., William Curtis Martin of New York City, N.Y., William Martin (Shirley) and Harry Martin, all of West Palm Beach, Fla., Willie Martin of Miami, Fla. and Major Martin Jr. of Moultrie; seven sisters, Edith Fields (Henry) of Amityville, N.Y., Geraldine Wheeler of Atlanta, Dorothy Martin of Columbus, Ohio, Ida Shaw of Lake City, Fla., Shirley Martin of Hollywood, Fla., Gladys Randall of Fayetteville, N.C., and Grace Smith of
Reidsville; an aunt, Juanita Reeves of Columbus, Ohio; a special niece, Sabrina Walker of Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mrs. Beatrice Lee Barnes
MOULTRIE — Mrs. Beatrice Lee Barnes, 88, of Moultrie died Sunday, April 7, 2002, in Macon.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. John W. Greene officiating. Burial will be in St. James Pallbearer No. 2. The deacons and brothers of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
Born April 7, 1914, in Funston, Mrs. Barnes was the daughter of the late Rev. Mack Morris and Mrs. Martha Walker Morris. She was a retired hotel worker and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bertrand Barnes.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Lorene M. Johnson of Macon; a nephew, Mr. Andrew Keneth Johnson of Macon; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Eula Mae Morris of Funston.
The body will remain at Strong Funeral Home until it is placed in the church one hour before the service.
