Ruby Jones Bryant

MOULTRIE — Mrs. Ruby Jones Bryant, 65, of 610 Fourth St. N.W., died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mother Easter Baptist Church with the Rev. E.H. Hopkins officiating. Burial will be at St. James Pallbearers No. 2.

Mrs. Bryant was born Sept. 18, 1936, in Terrell County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Brown. She was a homemaker and a member of Mother Easter Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roscoe Jones Sr.

Survivors include her husband, Buddy Bryant of Jacksonville, Fla.; four sons, Roscoe Jones Jr. and wife Gail of Portsmouth, Va., Anthony Jones, Ernest Jones and wife Dorthy, and Tony Jones and wife Bettie, all of Moultrie; five daughters, Shirley Butts and late husband James, Teareatha Hall and late husband Jessie, Diane Jones, Gloria Clay and husband Aurther, and Linda Faye Neals, all of Moultrie; two sisters, Daisy Brown and friend Walter and Alma Lee Williams and late husband Howard; sister-in-law, Jean Brown of Jacksonville, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and very close friends, Maude Burke, Daisy Williams and Eugene Hawkins, all of Moultrie.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Strong Funeral Home.

Strong Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



Carl William Dean

MOULTRIE — Carl William Dean, 85, of 1453 Paul Murphy Road, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at his daughter’s residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Raiford Walker and the Rev. Frank McDaniel officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Dean was born Oct. 22, 1915, in Colquitt County. He was a farmer and a member of Liberty Faith Holiness Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Lacey Dean and Hattie Lee Griffin Dean, and by his wife, Estelle Dixon Dean.

Survivors include four sons, Lacey James William Dean of Funston, Roger Dale Dean Sr. of Albany, Eugene Dean of Moultrie and Tony Carl Dean of Moultrie; three daughters, Emma Lee Virginia Tillman, Hattie Juanita Eubanks and Bonnie Carlene Herrington, all of Moultrie; two brothers, Howard Dean of Moultrie and Ellis Austin Dean of Berlin; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Cobb Funeral Chapel. The family may be contacted at the home of Mrs. Virginia Tillman, 211 Ragin Road, Moultrie.
