Quillie V. Overstreet Jr.
PINE MOUNTAIN VALLEY — Quillie V. Overstreet Jr., 78, of Pine Mountain Valley died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Columbus Hospice in Columbus.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at Harrell-Faircloth Chapel with the Rev. Quenton Barnes officiating and the Rev. Gene Richie assisting. Burial will follow at New Bethel Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Benny Jordan, Al Quick, Jeff Sellars, Dennis Carden, Tony Jordan, Bill Whitfield, Ric Bell and Larry Jordan.
Born Aug. 28, 1926, in Tift County, Mr. Overstreet was the son of the late Quillie V. Overstreet Sr. and the late Lathea Clark Overstreet Hall. He was a commercial truck driver and of the Protestant faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Mae Overstreet, and a son, David “Nat” Overstreet.
Survivors include three sons, Veral Overstreet, Sammy Overstreet and wife Debbie and Bobby Overstreet and wife Beata, all of Phenix City, Ala.; one daughter, Julie Satcher Johnson and husband Clarence of Salem, Ala.; five sisters, Virginia Mobley, Vernice Bell, Myrtice Sheppard, Evylee Tadlock and Alma Goff; a brother, David R. Overstreet; seven grandchildren, Vicki Dyess Stancil and Scott Perkins, both of Pine Mountain Valley, Ashley Overstreet of West Palm Beach, Fla., and David Overstreet, Vera Mae Overstreet, Jason Rosel Overstreet and Jessica Kramer Overstreet, all of Phenix City; one great-grandchild, Austin Blake Overstreet Stancil; a special family friend, Wanda Nance; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 tonight at Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home.
The family will be staying at The Inn at Moultrie.

Montine Chambers Fletcher Blount
VALDOSTA — Montine Chambers Fletcher Blount, 84, of Valdosta died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel in Adel with the Rev. Stephen Carr officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn City Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Dwain Fletcher of Quitman; two daughters, Farinda Jones of Gainesville, Fla., and Janice Purdom of Cape Coral, Fla.; and one brother, J.C. Chambers of Alachua, Fla.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home, Highway 41 South.

Colleen A. Lewis
PERRY — Colleen A. Lewis, 70, of Perry died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at home following a battle with ovarian cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at Perry United Methodist Church with burial following at Perry Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Jenny Jackson-Adams and the Rev. Roland Fall will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry.
Mrs. Lewis was born March 3, 1934 in Peoria, Ill., to the late Howard and Myrtus Dillion Alexander. She was the third of six children. After graduating from Peoria Central High School, she attended nursing school in Los Angeles. While in California, she met and later married James J. Lewis. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Always involved with her children’s activities, Mrs. Lewis served as president of the Mossville PTA and was a Girl Scout leader for many years. A resident of Perry since 1970, she was a retired employee of the Houston County Board of Education. She was also very active in community service. She was a member and past president of the Perry Newcomers Club, the Delphian Club and the Tawasi Club. Mrs. Lewis served for many years on the Perry Clean Community Commission. She was a member of the Pink Ladies at Perry Hospital and was an avid Braves fan.
Mrs. Lewis was very involved in her church, Perry United Methodist. She was a faithful member and past president of the IHS Sunday School Class. She had taken the Middle Georgia Walk to Emmaus. Mrs. Lewis had also been a member of the choir and had served on the administrative board.
“Meemaw” or “Mimi,” as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren, will be remembered for her most loyal support of her family and friends.
Survivors include her loving husband, James J. Lewis of Perry; her children, Bridget Howard and husband Steve of Perry, Marilyn Thompson and husband Keith of The Woodlands, Texas, and Brian Lewis and wife Holly of Moultrie; grandchildren, John David and Katie Howard of Perry and Ashley, Erin and Matthew Thompson of The Woodlands; siblings, Mary Elizabeth Rapp and husband Gene of Huntington Beach, Calif., Jerry Alexander and wife Marge of Duluth, Dean Alexander and wife Jan of Spokane, Wash., and Jean and John Alexander, both of Peoria.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Perry United Methodist Church.

Alma York Porter
MOULTRIE — Alma York Porter, 76, of 3418 Highway 33 North, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with Elder C.A. Blanton and Elder Emery Carlton officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Fred Rossman, Jack Larry, Sonny Swords, Ian Hester, Curtis Taylor and Terry Giager will serve as casketbearers.
Born Dec. 21, 1927, in Irwin County, Mrs. Porter was the daughter of the late Frank Anderson York and the late Mary Elizabeth Young York. She was retired from quality control at Riverside Manufacturing. She was a member of Bridge Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Floyd Hugh “Buddy” Porter of Moultrie; a daughter, Kay Giager and husband Ken of Tifton; four grandchildren, William “Bill” Griffin of Homer, Carol Ashworth of Commerce, Laura Tate of Jefferson and Wesley Griffin of Homer; three great-grandchildren, Will Griffin, Cole Griffin and Adam Ashworth; two brothers, Alvin York of Windsor, N.C., and Freddie Anderson of Tallahassee, Fla.; six sisters, Aretta Taylor of Moultrie, Arnesteen Adams of Manchester, Avis Norman of Moultrie, Anna Strickland of Albany, Aszlee Konorosky of Leesburg and Audrey Dozier of Leesburg; and two special friends, Elizabeth Fletcher and Jerry Wisham, both of Moultrie.
Visitation will be held tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Thelma Virginia Davis Brack
NORMAN PARK — Thelma Virginia Davis Brack, 71, of 107 Mill St. in Norman Park, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, followed by interment at Deep Bottom. The Rev. Jimmy Voyles will be officiating.
Born Aug. 21, 1933 in Worth County, Mrs. Brack was the daughter of the late Jeffie Lee and Myrtice Lee Mauldin Davis. She was a homemaker and a member of Norman Park Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Gene Davis and Jerry Davis.
Survivors include her husband, George T. Brack of Norman Park; a son, George Thomas Brack and wife Elaine of Norman Park; three brothers, Bobby Davis of Abbyville, Jimmy L. Davis of Ashburn and Lenward Davis and wife Wendy of Norman Park; a sister, Ann DeMott and husband Jimmie of Moultrie; two grandchildren, Jason Thomas Brack and Jennifer Elaine Brack; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held tonight from 6 to 8 p.m.
