Graham Long Cole Sr.

MOULTRIE — Graham Long Cole Sr., 68, of 200 Third St. N.E., died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at Archbold Medical Center.

The funeral will be at Autreyville Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18. The Revs. Hugh Ward, Tommy McDonald and Calvin Bobo will officiate the ceremony.

Casketbearers will be Wavell Robinson, Bill Edwards, Jackie Kitchens, Benny Alderman, Donnie Edwards and Ricky Gay. Honorary casketbearers will be Jack Lanier, Ray Gene Williams, Eddie Summerlin, Ed Selph, Tim Barber, Joe Hamilton, Bobby Partin, Ronald Tillman and Scotty Demott.

Mr. Cole was born in Wilmington, N.C., on March 14, 1934, the son of Elizabeth Long Cole and William Bowden Cole Sr. He was a tobacco warehouseman, farmer and veteran of the Army. He was a member of the Masonboro Sound Baptist Church.

Mr. Cole is survived by a brother, William Bowden Cole Jr. of Charlotte, N.C. He is also survived by three sons, Thomas William Cole of Moultrie, Graham L. Cole Jr. of Wilmington, N.C., and Chadwick Glenn Cole of Thomasville; and a daughter, Susan C. Hooker of Wilmington, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Martina Cole Roseberry.

Visitation will be Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Clara Lue Jackson Rhodes

MOULTRIE — Clara Lue Jackson Rhodes, 64, of 668 Forest Apartments, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Graveside rites will be at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 17, at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

Rhodes was a Baptist and a homemaker. She was born in Colquitt County on July 12, 1938, the daughter of the late Mary and Dennis Jackson. Her husband, Willard Rhodes, preceded her in death.

Rhodes is survived by four daughters, Paula Wright Cline of Vero Beach, Fla.; Debbie Wright of Vero Beach, Fla.; Susan Wright Yeomans of Moultrie; and Karen Wright Tillman, also of Moultrie. She is also survived by two sisters, two brothers, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, half sister and brother.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.



Runelle Jones Striplin

FUNSTON — Runelle Jones Striplin, 80, of West Mulberry Street, Funston, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, at Funston Baptist Church with burial in the Funston Cemetery. The Rev. Ron Shiver will officiate. Casketbearers will be deacons of Funston Baptist Church.

Mrs. Striplin was born Feb. 20, 1922, in Worth County to Blanche Jenkins Jones and Boyd L. Jones, both deceased. She was the owner of Striplin Draperies and a member of Funston Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Striplin of Funston; one son, Milton “Pete” Striplin and wife Robbie of Powder Springs; two daughters, Sarah Thompson and husband Len and Carol Broom and husband Gary, all of Funston; two brothers, Tom Jones of Thomasville and Lynn Jones of Moultrie; one sister, Joy Cone of Pavo; seven grandchildren, Laura Hall and husband Doug, Joel Thompson, Rachel Thompson, Rebecca Broom, Joshua Broom, Catherine Striplin and Jennifer Jaznach-Striplin; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Boyd Jones, and two sisters, Mildred Hobbs and Nan Coffee.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Colquitt County or to Funston Baptist Church.

Helen Miller Williams

TUCKER — Helen Miller Williams, of Tucker, Ga., formerly of Moultrie, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at Briarwood Nursing Home in Tucker. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home.
