Thomas W. Barlow

BONAIRE — Thomas W. Barlow, 68, died Friday, May 28, 2004, at Portsbridge Hospice. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, at the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, 417 S. Houston Lake Road in Warner Robins, with interment following at 3 p.m. in Westview Cemetery in Moultrie. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday, May 31, at McCullough Funeral Home.

The family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1544, Warner Robins, Ga. 31099-1544.

Mr. Barlow was born in Poulan, Ga. He was a retired master sergeant in the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. Mr. Barlow was also retired from the State of Georgia Public Safety Training Center and was a former member of the Board of Directors of the Warner Robins Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Mr. Barlow was the owner of the Covey Restaurant.

His parents, Thomas W. and Maggie Mae Barlow, and a son, Richard Lynn Barlow, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Maxine Barlow of Bonaire; a daughter, Janna Coker and husband Eddie of Warner Robins; a son, Dale Barlow and wife Linda of Milani, Hawaii; a son, Joey Barlow of Macon; and Binky Coker, Michelle Coker, Reese Coker, Paige Coker, Catie Barlow, Stephanie Barlow, Joshua Barlow, David Barlow, Whitney Barlow, Shane Barlow, Ashlee Barlow and Bryce Barlow.

Idella Powell

MOULTRIE — Idella Powell, 76, of 3011 Old Adel Highway, died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, at Willow Grove with burial at Strong Memorial Garden. The Rev. James L. Davis will officiate. Pallbearers will be Michael Mansfield, Craig Freeman, Anthony Walker, Johnny Banks, Darrien Edwards and Kenny Robinson. Friends of the family will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Ms. Powell was born Aug. 2, 1927, in Moultrie. Shw was a Baptist and a member of the Ellenton Pallbearers LODAC No. 5.

Survivors include a son, Carl Baneon Powell and wife Gladys of Manassas, Va.; two daughters, Valeria Jean Powell and Carroll L. Banks and husband Johnny, both of Moultrie; one brother, Joe West and wife Lois of St. Petersburg, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Ereka Freeman, Netosha Ward, April Edwards, Carl Powell Jr., Earl Davis, Maquita Banks, Lakeisha Powell, Jolissa Wright and Marcus Thortan; 11 great-grandchildren; and a devoted goddaughter, Dorothy Jean Lowery.

Visitation will be at Ms. Powell’s house, 3011 Old Adel Highway.

Wilbert Lee ‘Woody’ Woodlief

MOULTRIE — Wilbert Lee ‘Woody’ Woodlief, 73, of 622 Cherokee Drive, Moultrie, died Friday, May 28, 2004, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Graveside rites will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 31, at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens with full military honors.

Mr. Woodlief was born July 25, 1930, in Henderson, N.C., to the late Rosie Lee Woodlief and the late Ira Woodlief. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force, Carquest Auto Parts and Mercer Garage. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Stafford Woodlief of Moultrie; one son, Tim Woodlief and wife Linda of Moultrie; three daughters, Suzanne Martin and husband Randall of Norman Park, Terry Howard and husband Phillip of the New Elm community, and Millie Woodlief of Moultrie; one brother, Roy Woodlief of Bristol, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Flay Camden Woodlief, Lee Ann Gunn, Tony Maples and Tyler Maples; two great-grandchildren, Zane Dylan Gunn and Brandie Lane Gunn; a cousin, Vermont Edwards of Bristol, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. today, May 30, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

ReMell Alligood Brock

MOULTRIE — ReMell Alligood Brock, 92, of 504 E. 26th Ave., Moultrie, died Friday, May 28, 2004, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 31, at Pineview Baptist Church with interment at Pinecrest Memory Gardens. The Rev. Ken Potts and the Rev. Preston Norman will officiate. Pallbearers will be Scotty Tucker, Richie McCoy, Zach Tucker, Brock McCoy, Heath Weatherington, Derek Vines and Duane Weatherington. Honorary pallbearers will be David Vines, Mark Johnson, Mickey Johnson, Marty Johnson, Brandon Kelley, Thomas Vines and Chip Vines.

Mrs. Brock was born Sept. 10, 1911, in Mitchell County to the late Alma White Alligood Law and the late William Albert Alligood. She was a homemaker and a member of Pineview Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Ernest Brock; one son, Billy Brock; and two daughters, Jean Davis and Martha Vines.

Survivors include a son, Wayne Brock and wife Rosalynn of Moultrie; a son-in-law, Sanford Davis and wife Annette of Norman Park; a brother, W.J. Law and wife JoAnn of Salt Springs, Fla.; three sisters, Lillian Sullivan of Tennessee, Mildred Beninato of Ochlocknee and Elaine Radney and husband Glenn of Greenville, S.C.; grandchildren, Gayle Boyette and husband James, Jeanine Weatherington and husband Duane, David Vines and wife Steffie, Lisa Kelley and husband Randy, Tammy Hall and husband John, Dee Dee Griffith and husband Tim, Jan Tucker and husband Scotty, Derek Vines, and Kim McCoy and husband Richie; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, May 30, at Cobb Funeral Chapel. The family may be contacted at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Brock, 368 Church St. S.W., Moultrie.

Carolyn Wilson

MOULTRIE — Carolyn Wilson, 67, died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Cobb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.



Carroll D. Akridge

MOULTRIE — Carroll D. Akridge, 76, of 313 Camellia Drive, Moultrie, died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, May 31, at Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home with burial at Pinecrest Memory Gardens. The Rev. Jerry Mahan and the Rev. Quenton Barnes will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jack Chastain, Cecil Bowers, John T. Beverly, Floyd Faison, Earl Blanchard and Bubba Sims.

Mr. Akridge was born April 7, 1928, in Mitchell County to the late Carl and Nora Akridge. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired as chief engineer of Swift and Co. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva Akridge of Moultrie; a son, Charles D. Akridge of Kingsland; two daughters, Susan A. Mims and husband Craig of Moultrie and Sandra A. Pope of Albany; a brother, Dr. Robert Akridge of Hot Springs, Ark.; a sister, Mabel Bass of Pelham; and three grandchildren, Barrie and Abby Mims and Ryan Pope.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Jack and Lonzo Akridge; and three sisters, Mildred Gay, Margaret Akridge and Hazel Hester.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home.
