Fredia Nell “Nellie” Lewis White

MOULTRIE — Mrs. Fredia Nell “Nellie” Lewis White, 90, of Moultrie died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at Sunrise Nursing Home.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Barrett officiating and the Rev. Ronnie Vice assisting. Casketbearers will be Terry Henderson, Tony Hamm, Lavonne Manders, Tommy Conger, Dale Wright, Clinton Wright, Heath White, Ladon Kitchens and Brandon Jarvis. Honorary pallbearers will be David Hamm, Ted Henderson, Gerald Kitchens, Roy Taylor, Jackie Taylor and Ricky Hamm. Interment will follow the funeral service at New Elm Cemetery.

Born March 31, 1913, in Worth County, Mrs. White was the daughter of the late Johnnie Lee Lewis and Lillie Mae Griffis Lewis. She was a homemaker and member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was a beloved mother and loved by many.

Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Early “Tom” Watson White Sr.; a son, Murwin White; two sons-in-law, Johnny Taylor and Tommy Conger; a daughter, Virginia Ruth Taylor; and five brothers, Lonnie, Clifford, Willie, J.C. and Carol Lewis.

Survivors include a son, E.W. White Jr. and wife Corlis of Moultrie; seven daughters, Nell Henderson and husband Ottis of Norman Park, Esther Hamm and husband Walter of Moultrie, Ann Conger of Tifton, Betty Manders and husband John of Norman Park, Shirley Kerper and husband Keith of Omega, Patsy Johnson of Moultrie and Merle Kitchens and husband Gerald of Moultrie; two brothers, Ollie Lewis of Moultrie and Paul Lewis of St. Mary’s; two sisters, Martha Webb of Chatsworth, N.J., and Wynette Allender of Jackson; 23 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Hairdressers for Mrs. White were daughter Shirley Kerper and granddaughter Geraldine Sellers.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Marion Lee Roberts

SANFORD, Fla. — Mr. Marion Lee Roberts, 77, of Sanford, Fla., formerly of Moultrie, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at First Baptist Church, Brooks Chapel in Sanford, Fla.

Born Aug. 15, 1926, Mr. Roberts was raised in Moultrie. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a radioman, third class, SV-6, USNR. Shortly after the war, he met and married his wife of 55 years, Sara. They moved to Marianna, Fla., where he became manager of Keenan Auto Parts. He was active in and a past president of the Civitan Club. After almost 10 years in Marianna, Mr. and Mrs. Roberts moved to Sanford with their two children. Mr. Roberts called Sanford home for 42 years. He was owner of Seminole Auto Parts for 12 years, a traveling salesman and a courier. He was also a member of First Baptist Church, where he taught the junior high boys’ Sunday school class, was in Royal Ambassadors and was honored to be an ordained deacon. Mr. Roberts truly loved people and was a positive influence in many lives.

Survivors include his wife, Sara; his son, Randy, and daughter-in-law, Sharon; his daughter, Sara Lee, and son-in-law, Jim; five grandchildren, Camille, Hunter, Cameron, Courtney and Tori; a niece, Deana King of Marietta; and a nephew, Glen Roberts of the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Yorktown, Va.

Iris Nadine Parish Scott

MOULTRIE — Mrs. Iris Nadine Parish Scott, 76, of Moultrie died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie.

Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at Trinity Baptist Church, Deloach Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Helms officiating. A private interment will follow at Pinecrest Memory Gardens.

Born Dec. 11, 1927, in Apalachicola, Fla., Mrs. Scott was the daughter of the late Ava Nadine Scott Parish and John Roland Parish. She was a homemaker and retired executive secretary. Mrs. Scott was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her brother, John R. Parish.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Scott of Moultrie; two sons, Francis Xavier Scott and wife Pamela of West Palm Beach, Fla., and James Eric Scott of Moultrie; and two grandchildren, Cory and Erica Scott.

Margaret H. Carlton

MOULTRIE — Mrs. Margaret H. Carlton, 89, of Moultrie died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Americus.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at First United Methodist Church in Moultrie with the Rev. Joe Smith officiating and the Rev. Larry Bird assisting. Casketbearers will be Dan Hardman, the Rev. Ewell Hardman, James Carlton, Kenneth Carlton, Donnie Turner Jr. and Carlton Tucker. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memory Gardens.

Born Jan. 13, 1915, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Carlton was the daughter of the late Marcus L. Hardman and Evie M. Carlton Hardman. She was a retired bank cashier and a member of First United Methodist Church, where she served as a volunteer youth leader for many years. She was also a member of United Methodist Women and the Pilot Club.

Mrs. Carlton was preceded in death by her husband, James Everett Carlton.

Survivors include three nephews, Jerry Hardman of West Palm Beach, Fla., the Rev. Ewell Hardman of Lithonia and Dan Hardman of Thomasville, and three nieces, Virginia Taylor of Gainesville, Emily H. Dickey of Macon and Betty O’Connor of Rochester, Minn.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
