Mary Evelyn Johnson Gunn

MOULTRIE — Mrs. Mary Evelyn Johnson Gunn, 63, of Moultrie died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at Grady General Hospital in Cairo.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Buck Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Billy Murphy officiating. Pallbearers will be Monty Gunn, Bruce Gunn, Kenyon Gunn, Pete Thomas, Kenny Johnson and Gerald Hart.

Born May 4, 1940, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Gunn was the daughter of Roland Virgil Johnson and Willie Mae Conger Johnson. She was retired from Bridgeport Brass. Mrs. Gunn was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edgar and Harvey Johnson.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Lamon Gunn; her son, Peter Gunn and wife Veda of Moultrie; her daughter, Samantha Phillips and husband Timothy of Columbia, S.C.; two brothers, Orvin Johnson of Moultrie and Franklin Johnson and wife Suzanne of Longmont, Colo.; two sisters, Dorothy Hart of Ellenton and Claire Mae Reese of Geneva, Ala.; and two grandchildren, Tim and Cannon Phillips of Columbia, S.C.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Rodney Ladon Thompson

LENOX — Mr. Rodney Ladon Thompson, 46, of Lenox died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Leila Methodist Church with the Rev. Lennon Howell officiating and the Rev. Tony Crawley assisting. Burial will follow at Leila Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Randall Norman, Jeff Robinson, Buddy Brogdon, Ed Powell, Milton Mercer and Matthew Harrell.

Born July 12, 1957, in Mitchell County, Mr. Thompson was the son of Lucy B. Thompson and the late Ralph Bernard Thompson. He was a farm equipment mechanic and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Pelham.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Lynn Harrell Thompson of Lenox; his mother, Lucy B. Thompson of Pelham; two daughters, Katrina Crain of Oklahoma and Mary Ellen Thompson of Lenox; two stepdaughters, Kriste Fegain of Tifton and Kendall Isdell of Moultrie; three brothers, Timmy Thompson of Fayetteville, N.C., Wesley Thompson of Pelham and Dennis Thompson and wife Sherry, also of Pelham; and six grandchildren, Chelsse Ellis, Morgan Crain, Devin Braswell, and Tyler, Victoria and Logan Fegain.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Margaret Mianna H. Carlton

MOULTRIE — Mrs. Margaret Mianna H. Carlton, 89, of Moultrie died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Americus.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at First United Methodist Church in Moultrie with the Rev. Joe Smith officiating and the Rev. Larry Bird assisting. Casketbearers were Dan Hardman, the Rev. Ewell Hardman, James Carlton, Kenneth Carlton, Donnie Turner Jr. and Carlton Tucker. Burial was at Pinecrest Memory Gardens.

Born Jan. 13, 1915, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Carlton was the daughter of the late Marcus Leonadus Hardman and Evie Julima Metcalf Hardman. She was a retired bank cashier and a member of First United Methodist Church, where she served as a volunteer youth leader for many years. She was also a member of United Methodist Women and the Pilot Club.

Mrs. Carlton was preceded in death by her husband, James Everett Carlton.

Survivors include three nephews, Jerry Hardman of West Palm Beach, Fla., the Rev. Ewell Hardman of Lithonia and Dan Hardman of Thomasville, and three nieces, Virginia Taylor of Gainesville, Emily H. Dickey of Macon and Betty O’Connor of Rochester, Minn.

Visitation was from 7 to 9 p.m Wednesday, Feb. 18, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Magnolia Manor South, 3011 S. Veterans Parkway, Moultrie.

Willie Carlton Davis

MOULTRIE — Mr. Willie Carlton Davis, 55, of Moultrie died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Luke Strong and Son Mortuary.



Ella Rudine Johnson Eunice

PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Mrs. Ella Rudine Johnson Eunice, 86, of Panama City, Fla., died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at her residence.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Albritton officiating. Burial will follow at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

Born July 9, 1917, in Worth County, Mrs. Eunice was the daughter of the late Ella Lenora Willis Johnson and Jesse Brantley Johnson. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Eunice.

Survivors include her husband, W.B. Eunice Jr. of Panama City, formerly of Moultrie; her daughter, Anne Wynn and husband Bob of Panama City; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.

Royce “Buddy” Ward

SUMMERVILLE — Mr. Royce “Buddy” Ward, 65, of Summerville died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at his residence.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tony Walker and the Rev. James Sellers officiating. Burial will follow at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens. Casketbearers will be Andy Walker, Marty Milam, Danny Roland, Randy Johnson, Ben Sellers and John Robertson. Honorary casketbearers will be nieces Phyllis Carr, Susie Knox, Dannice Kennedy, Belinda Thompson, Jan Thompson and Diane Roland.

Born June 27, 1938, in Dekalb County, Ala., Mr. Ward was the son of the late Lucy Debter Ward and John Howard Ward. Mr. Ward was a maintenance mechanic at Florida Tile in Rome. He served in the U.S. Army and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Sellers Ward of Summerville; two sons, Gary Ward and wife Karen of Sherrillsford, N.C., and Glenn Fletcher and wife Anne of Summerville; a daughter, Gayla Lucina Ward and special friend Leo Juarez of Sherrillsford; two brothers, Clayton Ward and wife Frances of Summerville and Early Ray Ward and wife Mary of Bethpage, Tenn.; two sisters, Lizzie Mae Hawkins and husband William and Loyce Carter and husband Ron, all of Summerville; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the funeral chapel.

Cecil I. West Sr.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Mr. Cecil I. West Sr. of Bakersfield, Calif., died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Christ Cathedral Church, 2301 White Lane, Bakersfield.

Born Feb. 7, 1940, in Moultrie, Mr. West was the son of Mollie Mae West and the late Joseph Lightle West of Moultrie. He graduated from Moultrie High School and served in the Air Force from 1958 to 1964. He moved to California in 1984.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Joan West of Bakersfield; three children, Cecil “Buddy” I. West Jr. and wife Elsie of La Luz, N.M., Gidget Trudel and husband Tom of Bakersfield and Dereck West and wife Stephanie of Fresno, Calif.; another “daughter,” Milagros Duarte and husband Cristobal Madrigal of San Francisco; his mother, Mollie Mae West, two sisters, Elizabeth Poole and Juanita McFarland, and a brother, Eugene West, all of Moultrie; and six grandchildren, Jennifer Guitar, Richard West, Cecil I. West III, Brandon Trudel, Mark Trudel and Samantha West.

James Hubert “Buddy” Reynolds

MOULTRIE — Mr. James Hubert “Buddy” Reynolds, 50, of Moultrie died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Red Oak Cemetery in Worth County. Casketbearers will be Lee Reynolds, Cody Brooks, Bobby Courtney, Ronnie Courtney, Jimmy Courtney and Jeffrey Gay.

Born May 17, 1953, in Colquitt County, Mr. Reynolds was the son of the late Myrtice Phillips Marlow and Hubert Reynolds. He was a foreman at Moultrie Post Forms. Mr. Reynolds was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ricky Reynolds, and one sister, Marie Reynolds.

Survivors include his former wife, Melanie Reynolds Dorsch of Moultrie; his son, John Reynolds and wife Jennifer of Moultrie; his stepmother, Carolyn Reynolds of Moultrie; his stepchildren, Jeff Gay and Lalonnie Driggers, both of Moultrie; two brothers, Bobby Reynolds and wife Rhonda and Tony Reynolds and wife Tanda, all of Moultrie; two sisters, Denise R. Calloway and husband Paul and Margaret R. Lorio and husband Thomas, all of Moultrie; three aunts, Latrelle Ferriero and Janie Lott, both of Moultrie, and Edna Edwards of Asheboro, N.C.; one grandchild, Jonathan Reynolds of Moultrie; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral chapel.

Beatrice Hagans

LENOX — Funeral services for Mrs. Beatrice Hagans, 86, of Lenox, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at St. Matthew Grove Baptist Church in Lenox. Mrs. Hagans died Feb. 10, 2004. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. today, Feb. 20, at Lane Memorial Chapel. The remains will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until the hour of the service. Interment will be in Lenox Cemetery.

SPARKS — Funeral services for Erica C. Durham, 18, of Sparks will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at Bethel Baptist Church in Adel. Miss Durham died Feb. 13, 2004. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today, Feb. 20, at Lane Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in Adel Cemetery, Adel.
