MOULTRIE — Mr. Charlie L. Edwards Jr., 59, of West Central Avenue died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Verdell Brown

MOULTRIE — Mrs. Verdell Brown, 88, of Moultrie died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at Brownwood Nursing Home.

Arrangements will be announced by Strong Funeral Home.



Evelyn Johnson King

MOULTRIE — Evelyn Johnson King, 85, of Sunrise Nursing Home, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church in Moultrie with Dr. Hugh Ward and Father James Parker officiating. Burial will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at Park Hill Cemetery in Columbus, Ga.

Mrs. King was born July 11, 1917, in Chattahoochee County to Lula Wooldridge Johnson and Albert Edward Johnson, both deceased. She was a longtime resident of Columbus, Ga., and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church there. She was a homemaker and a devoted mother and grandmother. Her interests included flowers, gardening and music.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe N. King.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Leslie and Charles J. King of Moultrie; daughter and son-in-law, Jerry and Evelyn Vereen of Moultrie; one brother, Albert Johnson of Junction City, Ga.; two sisters, Ms. Bob Carroll of Gainesville, Fla., and Ms. John Lachowsky of Altus, Ark.; four grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa Zeanah and David, Will Vereen and Anne, J.T. King and Keryn and Wilson King; and four great-grandchildren.

The family may be contacted at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Vereen. No formal visitation is scheduled.

Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
