Mary ‘Magel’ McCook Wood

SALE CITY — Mary “Magel” McCook Wood, 64, of Sale City died Monday, March 17, 2003, at Mitchell County Hospital in Camilla.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, March 19, at Pebble City Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Glenn Hobby will officiate.

Born Sept. 29, 1938, in Mitchell County, Mrs. Wood was the daughter of the late George F. and Gracie Boatright McCook. She was a homemaker and a member of Pebble City Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Wood Sr.

Survivors include two daughters, Julie Tucker of Camilla and Wilma Presley of Sale City; a son, William Wood Jr. of Sale City; three brothers, Lazelle McCook, Victor McCook and Jack McCook, all of Camilla; 11 grandchildren; four foster grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Joann W. Tillman

ADEL — Joann W. Tillman, 68, of Adel died Monday, March 17, 2003, at Adel Convalescent Center.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, at Westside Baptist Church with the Revs. John Hendley and Earl Buckholts officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Purvis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



Wilma Winski Haughton Maddox

OMEGA — Wilma Winski Haughton Maddox, 64, of Omega died Monday, March 17, 2003, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, at Leila United Methodist Church with the Rev. Frank Morris officiating. Burial will be in Leila United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Kennedy, Tommy Willis, Hoyt Shaw, John Evers, Eddie Posey and Buddy Brogdon.

Born July 5, 1938, in Statesboro, Mrs. Maddox was the daughter of the late Dent Emerson Winski and Anna Lee Sparks Winski. She was a homemaker and a retired emergency room secretary at Tift General Hospital. Mrs. Maddox was a former Miss Colquitt County. She collected antiques and formerly owned of J.R.’s Antique Store in Norman Park.

Survivors include her husband, William W. Maddox of Omega; an uncle, J.E. Winski of Statesboro; and several very close friends.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Ruby Corrine Dunn Pierce Powell

NAUVOO, Ill. — Ruby Corrine Dunn Pierce Powell, 90, a native of Coolidge, died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at her home in Nauvoo.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at Latter Day Saints Nauvoo First Ward Chapel with Bishop Merlin Reittinger officiating. Burial will be in Nauvoo City Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, four sons, and a sister, Mildred Barlow of Moultrie.

Lamporte Funeral Home of Nauvoo is in charge of arrangements.
