Adell Green Thompson
BAINBRIDGE – Adell Green Thompson, 84, of Bainbridge, died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at Memorial Manor Nursing Home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Brock Cemetery in Bainbridge.
Born April 10, 1919, in Decatur County, Mrs. Thompson was the daughter of the late Williams B. Brock and Bama Taylor Brock. She was a homemaker..
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Green of Climax and Jerry Green of Moultrie; three daughters, Janice G. Veloz of Merced, Calif., Betty G. Thomas of Climax and Jackie G. Smith of Tallahassee, Fla.; two brothers, Frank Brock of Leesburg and Cleo Brock of Bainbridge; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Christine Wisham Hilley
DOERUN – Christine Wisham Hilley, 78, of Doerun died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Michael Warren officiating. Burial will be in Doerun Cemetery. The men of Doerun Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. Her grandsons will be honorary pallbearers.
Born April 21, 1925, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Hilley was the daughter of the late Allie Irene Horn Wisham and Aubrey Grady Wisham. She was a retired beautician and was retired from Moree’s Grocery Store. Mrs. Hilley was a member of Doerun Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvin Ardell Hilley, and a son, Kenneth Frederick Hilley.
Survivors include a son, Charles Leon Hilley and wife Debi of Mitchell County; daughters, Susan Christine H. Boozer of Avondale and Traci Ardell Hilley of Albany; brothers, Curtis Eugene Wisham of Leesburg, Fla. and Lonnie Herman Wisham of Moultrie; and three grandchildren, Ian Paul Hilley, Daniel Grover Hilley and Matthew Jason Boozer.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. tonight at the funeral chapel.

C.L. Dixon
ALBANY – C.L. Dixon, 84, of Albany died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at Palmyra Nursing Home.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 29, at Banks Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Bobby Joe Brown and Arnold Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Doerun Cemetery.
Born Aug. 7, 1918, in Ducktown, Tenn., Mr. Dixon was the son of the late Luther Dixon and Minnie Howell Dixon. He was a retired farmer and was formerly employed with Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Dixon loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed fishing with friends. He was a member of Bridgeboro Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Belle Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Maxine Wall Dixon of Bridgeboro; two sons, Larry (Cindy) Dixon of Albany, Roger (Patsy) Dixon of Bridgeboro; four daughters, Brenda (Jessie) Spillers of Tallahassee, Fla., Judy (C.Z.) Standlin and Jayne (Ricky) Davis all of Sasser, Peggy (Jacky) Powell of Doerun; two brothers, Delmar Dixon of Tifton and Edward Dixon of Omega; three sisters, Blanche Norman of Omega, Ruth Wolfe of Cocoa, Fla. and Gladys Gunn of Wyoming; 18 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Damon C. Dodd
NORMAN PARK – The Rev. Damon C. Dodd, 87, of Norman Park died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at Lakehaven Nursing Home in Valdosta.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, April 29, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Bellview Church Cemetery in Miller County.
Son of the late Robert F. and Elizabeth H. Dodd, he was born in Flat River, Mo. on Feb. 14, 1916. He was converted and accepted Christ as Savior in July 1932. In July 1933, he answered the call to the Gospel Ministry and for almost 70 years, had been actively preaching and teaching the Gospel in many areas of the country. He served as a pastor of local churches in Missouri, Tennessee and his adopted home state of Georgia. He was a noted evangelist for many years, conducting revival meetings throughout the United States. He and his first wife Sylvia served as missionaries to Cuba during the 1940s, and he served as denominational executive secretary in the 1950s. He served on the Board of Directors for the Free Will Baptist Bible College, of which he and Sylvia were charter alumni, for several terms in the 1960s and 1970s. He completed requirements for and had conferred the Doctor of Ministries Degree in the 1980s. He authored a number of books and study guides, and was a prolific writer of inspirational prose and poetry. He was a respected teacher of aspiring young ministers, Christian workers, and of anyone who wanted to learn more about God’s Word. During his lifetime, he organized many Free Will Baptist congregations and supervised the building of their churches and parsonages. In his retirement, he served as a mentor and a source of inspiration and encouragement to many pastors, laypeople, and to any others who were placed in his life and under his care.
His wife of 58 years, the former Sylvia R. Wood, preceded him in death, as did his parents and three of his four siblings.
Survivors include his wife, the former Ola Maude Mercer; his daughters and their husbands, Marilyn D. and Wayne Hudson of Macon and Barbara D. and Bobby Tucker of Hahira; his five grandchildren, Jonathan Hudson of Macon, Brian Tucker of Valdosta, and Susanne, Lauren and Alison Tucker of Hahira; his brother, Leeman R. Dodd and family of St. Louis, Mo.; his stepchildren, Cheryl and Hinton Sinclair, Mike and Pat Mercer, Denise and Jerry Brooks, Debbie and Darrell Roberts and Tammy Mercer, all of the Moultrie area; eight step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and a host of friends who loved and respected him.
Memorials may be made to United Hospice of Moultrie or Valdosta, or to Grace Free Will Baptist Church in Moultrie.

George Wendell Hickman
NORMAN PARK – George Wendell Hickman, 64, of Norman Park died Saturday, April 26, 2003, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, at Leila Church Cemetery in Omega with the Rev. Marshall Kennedy officiating.
Born June 26, 1938, in Colquitt County, Mr. Hickman was the son of the late William Cladis Hickman and Sarah Denby Hickman. He was a security guard.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Carl Hickman and David Cecil Hickman.
Survivors include two sons, George Wendell Hickman Jr. and Allen Cladis Hickman; and a brother, Floyd Lamar Hickman of Moultrie.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
