Evelyn Sharpe Fowler

MOULTRIE — Evelyn Sharpe Fowler, 70, of Moultrie died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at her residence.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 25, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mark Stone officiating. Burial will be in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Lavon Striplin, Danny Strickland, Charles Hall, Clark Edwards, Dallas Hall and Bryan Bourrie.

Born Feb. 14, 1933, in Lowndes County, Mrs. Fowler was the daughter of the late Avie Wetherington Sharpe and Robert Emmette Sharpe Sr. She was a homemaker and a member of Berlin Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Buddy Fowler, who died April 25, 2002.

Survivors include two sons, Bruce Fowler and wife Jan, Glenn Fowler and wife Sheila all of Moultrie; a daughter, Sharon F. Hansen and husband Murray of Warner Robins; a brother, Wallace Sharpe of Hahira; two sisters, Wilna S. Guthrie of Barney and Beverly S. Wilkes of Viera, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Scott Fowler, Ashley Fowler, Holly Alligood and husband Bert, Haley Pinder and husband Shane, Josh Collett, Adam Collett, Quinn Hansen and Lindsey Barnes; and a great-grandson, Zachery Shelton.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral chapel.

The family may be contacted at the residence, 7390 Ga. Highway 133 South, Moultrie.

Bertha Lee Crossway

NEW YORK — Mrs. Bertha Lee Crossway, 86, of New York died Saturday, April 19, 2003, in New York.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 25, at Strong Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Strong Memorial Gardens. Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Born Aug. 29, 1916, in Sylvester, Mrs. Crossway was the daughter of the late Mrs. Mattie Bell King. She was a homemaker and was a member of Williams Tabernacle CME Church in Moultrie. Mrs. Crossway spent most of her life in Moultrie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Crossway, and three sons, Jeff Ellison, Willie (Pretty Baby) Ellison and Johnny Crossway Jr.

Survivors include her immediate family, Jacquelyn, Michael, Jason and Jazmin Johnson; grandchildren, Mona Lisa, Johnny, Eli, Willie Jr., Sandra, Halimah, Anthony, Jeff, Glasglow, Michael and Marcus, and a host of family and friends.

Montine West Kerce

MOULTRIE — Montine West Kerce, 87, of Moultrie died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Sunrise Nursing Home.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 25, at East Side Baptist Church with the Revs. Paul Voyles and Lynn Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Ryan Kerce, Chris Kerce, Jody Ball, Eric Holloway, Greg Flowers and Michael Kerce.

Born Sept. 25, 1915, in Mitchell County, Mrs. Kerce was the daughter of the late Martha Jane Harrell West and W.C. West. She was retired from Wells Aluminum and was a member of East Side Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Willis Kerce Sr.; two brothers, Leon West and Corbin West; and sisters, Colee Gordon and Norma Ree Roberts.

Survivors include sons, Kenneth Kerce of McDonough, Stephen Kerce of Hiram, Willis Kerce of Lake Wales, Fla., Larry West and Auburn Stripling both of Moultrie, Kevin Kerce of Doerun, and Aubrey Stripling of Atlanta; daughters, Marcelle Wood of Geneva, Fla., Cassandra Basinger of Milledgeville, Laverne Sutton and Wynelle Norman both of Moultrie; a special friend, Annie Ruth Burroughs of Moultrie; 30 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral chapel.

John Horace Hall Sr.

MOULTRIE — John Horace Hall Sr., 75, of Moultrie died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at his residence.

Services will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 25, at the Church of Christ with Larry Stewart and Earl Weldon Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Bob Wisenbaker, Mike Wisenbaker, Grady Simpson, Paul Welch, Cord McLean, and Calvin Van Vlake.

Born Sept. 7, 1927, in Colquitt County, Mr. Hall was the son of the late Josephine Brooks Hall and J.B. Hall Sr. He was the manager of Goodyear Tire Service for 28 years and later was the owner of Hall’s Auto Center. Mr. Hall was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Emma Sue Giles Hall of Moultrie; a son, John Horace Hall Jr. and wife Debbie of Moultrie; a brother, Wandell Hall of Newberry, Fla.; sisters, Marco Tyree of Frostproof, Fla. and Melba Partain of Ruskin, Fla.; two grandchildren, John Horace Hall III and wife Tammy and Christopher Aaron Hall; and adopted grandchildren, Sha-na Bradley, Javan Bradley, Leah Bradley, Leslie Childree, Mary Beth Childree and Elizabeth Bailey Childree.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral chapel.

Loretta Potts Keen

DAWSON — Loretta Potts Keen, 88, of Dawson, formerly of Moultrie, died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at Palmyra Nursing Center in Albany.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 25, at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Paul Wilkes, J.E. Moak and Roger Benton officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne Taylor, Joe Porter, Clyde Porter, Gerald Psalmond, Lynn Jones, Paul Peace, Roger Benton and Jack Baker.

Born May 19, 1914, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Keen was the daughter of the late Clifford and Barzilla Potts. She was a beautician, retiring after 70 years with Merle Norman, and was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Esther Sunday School Class and a faithful member of the church choir. Mrs. Keen was a member of the Lioness Club of Moultrie and was a former music director of Funston Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Horace Keen and wife Carolyn of Dawson; two grandchildren, Eric Keen of Charleston, S.C. and Karen Keen Roush of Moultrie; three great-grandchildren, Asia Roush, Haley and Kelly Keen; two step-grandchildren, Annette Sthreshley, John R. Sthreshley and wife Valarie; six step-great-grandchildren, Robert, Stefan and Chad Dickinson, Angela, Jessica and Brittany Sthreshley; a brother, Furman Potts of Funston; and three sisters, Jackie Horne of Moultrie, LaVira Wines of Albany, Ore., and Gloria Pierce of Sylvester.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral chapel.

CHARLETON COUNTY — Gary Padgett, 54, of Charleton Conty died Tuesday, April 22, 2003.

Charles Ashley Folsom

BAILEY, N.C. — Charles Ashley Folsom, 85, of Bailey, N.C. died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, in Sanford, N.C.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 25, at Bailey Baptist Church, followed by burial in Bailey Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Ricks Folsom; a son, Ashley Folsom; three daughters, Lynn Oakley, Margaret Ainsley and Jo Glover; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Winston Folsom of Moultrie; and a sister, Evangeline Willis.
