Elmer ‘Bill’ J. Hortman

NORMAN PARK — Elmer “Bill” J. Hortman, 86, of 154 Saturday Road, Norman Park, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with burial at the Mt. Sinai Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Hortman was born March 20, 1915, in Crawford County to the late Elder Oliver J. and the late Exie Hortman. He was a retired farmer and a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church of Doerun.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Kate Bass Hortman of Norman Park; a son, Billy M. Hortman of Moultrie; a daughter, Brenda H. Norman of Norman Park; three brothers, J.C. Hortman and W.G. Hortman of Pavo and Myles Hortman of Moultrie; four sisters, Voncile Carter of Moultrie, Maevan Pittman of Tallahassee, Fla., Lorene Arrington of Kissimmee, Fla., and Exie Perkins of Blakeley; four grandchildren, Scott Hortman, Regina Cash and James and Mike Weathers; and eight great-grandchildren.

Nell S. McGill

MOULTRIE — Nell S. McGill, 87, of Moultrie, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at Park Regency in Moultrie.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Harrell-Faircloth Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Wills officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gene Carlton, Bob Jones, Sam Jones, Charles Polk, Robert Ricks and Stony McGill.

Born Jan. 15, 1914, in Athens, Mrs. McGill was the daughter of the late Ed and Linnie Stone. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, James M. McGill of Moultrie; three sons, James M. McGill Jr. and wife Betty of Marietta, George Edwin McGill and wife Angie of Atlanta, and John H. McGill and wife Phyllis of Jacksonville, Ala.; daughters, Linelle Carlton and husband Frankie of Thomasville and Martha Jo Ricks and husband Bobby of Dallas, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Geneva Hunt Crawford

MOULTRIE — Geneva Hunt Crawford, 76, of Moultrie, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Pinecrest Memory Gardens with the Rev. Terry Webb officiating.

Born Feb. 13, 1925, in Worth County, Mrs. Crawford was the daughter of the late Gladys and Hinson Hunt. She was a homemaker and a member of Temple Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by a brother, J.H. Hunt.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Joseph “Junior” Crawford Jr. of Moultrie; a son, Johnny E. Crawford and Gina of Moultrie; a daughter, Gail Crawford Davis and husband Theron of Ochlocknee; brothers, Archie Hunt of Brooksville, Fla., and Clyde B. Hunt of Oldsmar, Fla.; a sister, Martha Hunt Ackermam of Macon; a beloved grandchild, John Theron Davis; and many nieces and nephews.

Bertha Dumas Dekle

TY TY — Mrs. Bertha Dumas Dekle, 92, of Ty Ty died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at Tift Health Care in Tifton.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Grady Morey officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.

Born Sept. 16, 1909, in Worth County, Mrs. Dekle was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lace Mallard. She lived most of her life in Worth and Berrien counties. She was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by a son, Frankie Dumas.

Survivors include her husband, John T. Dekle of Ty Ty; a daughter, Gladys Paula of Tampa, Fla.; two sons, Roy Dumas and Carl Dumas, both of Tampa, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Mary Frances Crownover of Decatur, Ala.; a stepson, John Henry Dekle of Tifton; 16 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Mabel H. Seabolt

MOULTRIE — Mabel H. Seabolt, 98, of Hartsfield, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at Brownwood Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Hartsfield Cemetery.

Born March 9, 1903, in Morgan County, Mrs. Seabolt was the daughter of the late Bush Marshall and Virginia Elizabeth Cochran Harper. She was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L.G. Seabolt, and a daughter, Virginia Bowen.

Survivors include three daughters, Irene S. McDearmid and Marie S. Moree, both of Albany, and Edith S. Harrell of Coolidge; eight grandchildren, Steven Bowen of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Sharon Gill of Greenville, S.C., Lisa Piper, Sylvia Stalvey and Lance Moree of Albany, Leslie Moree of Daytona Beach, Fla., Doug Harrell of Thomasville and Allan Harrell of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada; 14 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Lenora Greenway Weaver

BEAUFORT, S.C. — Lenora Greenway Weaver, 81, formerly of Moultrie and Macon, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at Bayview Nursing Center in Beaufort, S.C.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.

Born July 16, 1920 in Lula, Mrs. Weaver was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Greenway and Ola Bell Dunahoo Greenway. She was a homemaker, was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Moultrie and was a member for 38 years of Macon Mikado Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Harold Spivey and Jason Weaver.

Survivors include her son, the Rev. John C. Spivey, pastor of Grays Hill Baptist Church, of Beaufort; a sister, Dorothy French of Fayetteville, Ga.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
