William B. “Bill” Barrentine
PROVIDENCE, Fla. — William B. “Bill” Barrentine, 56, of Providence, Fla., died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, with Pastor Bo Hammock officiating. Private family interment services will follow.
A native of Moultrie, Mr. Barrentine had been a resident of Providence since 1979, having moved there from West Palm Beach. He was employed with Gainesville Regional Utilities as a lineman at the time of his death. He retired from Florida Power and Light after 31 years of service. Mr. Barrentine was a member of the Local 222 Electricians Union in Gainesville and of the Providence Village Baptist Church. He enjoyed his hobby of woodworking. He loved to build furniture out of wood and he enjoyed working on his acreage in Providence.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Barrentine.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Brenda Barrentine; a stepson, Christopher Waldron (Moira Mahoney) of Atlanta; two daughters, Tammy McCormick (David) of Providence, Fla., and Sheila Barrentine (Robbie Dougherty) of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; his mother, Essie Mae Barrentine of Moultrie; a brother, Mack Barrentine of Thomasville; and a sister, Shirley Mulford of Thomasville.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Ora Tillman Walden
MOULTRIE — Ora Tillman Walden, 87, of Moultrie, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at his residence.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, at China Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. John O’Neal and Ricky Griner officiating. Burial will be in China Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wyman Norman Jr., Eric Tillman, Nick Norman, Don Tillman, Alan Tillman and Lance Walden.
Born April 8, 1914, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Walden was the daughter of the late Hattie William Tillman and Josh Tillman. She was a homemaker and a member of China Grove Baptist Church for 71 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hardy Mathis Walden.
Survivors include a son, O.J. Walden of Moultrie; a daughter, Margaret W. Henson and husband Jim of Norman Park; a brother, Elbert Tillman of Destin, Fla.; a sister, Cora T. Norman of Moultrie; three grandchildren, Lance Walden, Zane Walden and Michelle Henson Gardner; and three great-grandchildren, Michael Walden, Matthew Walden and Kolby Walden.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral chapel.

Lester A. Flanders
ADEL — Lester A. Flanders, 84, of Adel, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at South Georgia Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, at Roundtree Cemetery with the Rev. Terrell Roberts officiating.

Ruby Lee Daniels Hill
MOULTRIE — Ruby Lee Daniels Hill, 80, of 1307 Bay Leaf Drive, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at her residence.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Friendship Baptist Church with the Revs. Leroy Thompson Jr., John W. Greene Jr., James McBurrows and E.H. Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Strong Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tom Zanders, Rickey Zanders, Larso Daniels, Anthony Nickerson, Jerome Stacey, David Barge and Mack Green.
Born June 6, 1921, in Thomas County, Mrs. Hill was the daughter of the late Godfield and Janie Spencer Daniels. She was a housekeeper and a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Benjamin Hill Sr., and a daughter, Essie Mae Hill.
Survivors include sons, Joseph B. Hill Jr. of Moultrie, Clifford Hill of Newark, N.J., Raymond Hill of Albany and Winston Collins of Moultrie; daughters, Evelyn H. Poole of Browns Mill, N.J., Dorothy H. Nickerson of Moultrie, Ira Mae Jefferson of Newark, N.J., Sallie H. Robinson and Sylvia Hill of Moultrie; a brother, David Daniels of Boston; sisters, C
arrie Taylor of Trenton, N.J., and Lillie Scott of Boston; a sister-in-law, Zippy Ann Lee of Hawkinsville; 26 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
The body will be placed in the church one hour before the funeral.

Collas C. Hiers
NORMAN PARK — Collas C. Hiers, 81, of Norman Park died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at Magnolia Manor South Nursing Home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Jim Roberson, Rolan Bamberg and Ronald Barrett officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Collas Holton, Donnie Cox, Charlie Wiard, William Wiard, Daniel Smith, Jody Smith, Matthew Cox, Gordon Cox, John Holton and Steven Shane West.
Born Dec. 11, 1919, in Colquitt County, Mr. Hiers was the son of the late Elizabeth Lola Blanton Hiers and David Lee Hiers. He was retired from City of Moultrie’s Sanitation Department and was a member of Cat Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Milbra Irene Hiers, and a daughter, Irene Cox.
Survivors include daughters, Colleen H. Horne of Moultrie, Linda Wiard and husband Bobby of Moultrie, Judy Smith of Tifton; a brother, Wallace Hiers and wife Juanita of Inglewood, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral chapel.
