MIA gets ninth Midget League win

MOULTRIE — Moultrie Insurance Agency has now won nine of its 10 Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Department Midget League baseball games after defeating Harper-McCall 8-3 on Thursday.
Cole Pitts had three hits, including a home run, and Blake Moore and Parker Johnson each had two hits for Moultrie Insurance. Moore also was the winning pitcher.
Harper-McCall falls to 4-7.
In Thursday’s other Midget League game, Taylor Barber singled, stole second and third and scored on a throwing error in the seventh inning to give Mobley Plant a 7-6 victory over Southwest Georgia Bank.
Barber had three hits and Colby Johnson and Dylan Gray had two each for Mobley Plant, now 3-7. Zac Goodno was the winning pitcher.
Matt Lindsey had two hits for Southwest Georgia Bank, which rallied from a 6-0 deficit in the sixth inning to tie the game and send it into extra innings.
In Farm League action, Random Designs won a meeting once-beaten teams, defeating ABC 8-3.
Random raises its record to 6-1. ABC, which had two hits each by Blake Bennett, Tyrone Walker and Gradyn Grobe, falls to 6-2.
Bank of America raised its Farm League record to 6-2 with a 16-1 victory over CRMC.
Benjamin Hegwood, Dillon Presley, Drew Marchant, Lee Wright, Daryl Williamson, Tanner Strickland and Austin Bass each had two hits for Bank of America.
In Thursday’s other Farm League game, Southwest Georgia Bank edged Lazarus 9-8.
Jim Harrison, Daren Kent and Nathan Webb each had two hits for Southwest Georgia Bank.
Alex Weldon had three and Reed Wells two for Lazarus.
In Thursday’s Pony League action, Stephen Tyus hit two home runs and Nathan Cashwell added another as United Storage defeated Captain D’s 13-3.
Cashwell and Chris Simmons each had three hits and Matt Howell also had two hits for United Storage, now 7-4-1.
Josh Webb went five innings on the mound to pick up the win.
Andrew McDowell had two hits for Captain D’s, now 4-5-1.
In Thursday’s other Pony League game, Southwest Georgia Bank edged Clements Pools 8-6.
Yale Holten was the winning pitcher.
Seth Whittaker was 3-for-3 and Christopher Elkins and Jesse Jarnigan each had two hits for Southwest Georgia Bank, which raised its record to 2-8.
Jebb Cato and Judd Cato each had two hits for Clements Pools, now 1-9-1.
In Tiny Mites on Thursday, Bank of America defeated Larry’s Bait and Tackle 6-4, and Southwest Georgia Bank won over Mobley Plant 18-5.
