MOULTRIE — Effie Mae Roach Sieczka, 80, of Moultrie, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at her residence.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Edward R. Frank officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Fremont, Mich.

Born Oct. 8, 1920, in Muskegon County, Mich., Mrs. Sieczka was the daughter of the late Elizabeth G. Moon Roach and Claude I. Roach. She was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by a son, Richard J. Sieczka; two sisters, Catherine R. Nickett and Mary Ann R. Willavage; and three brothers, Miles Roach, David Roach and Thomas Roach.

Survivors include her husband, Stanley Sieczka of Moultrie; sons, Joe Sieczka, Stanley Sieczka, Stephen Sieczka and Jeffery Sieczka, all of Michigan, Dominic Sieczka of Warner Robins and Christopher Sieczka of Camilla; a daughter, Elizabeth S. Pallerno of Virginia; brothers, Dennis Roach and Paul Roach of Michigan; sisters, Martha Buckout and Barbara Braggs of Michigan and Becky of Texas; 21 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be said at Kroeze Funeral Home in Fremont, Mich.

Odeal S. Roberts

MOULTRIE — Odeal S. Roberts, 90, of Moultrie, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at The Woodlands at Cobblestone.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, at Westview Cemetery, with the Revs. Ken Baker and Jimmy Voyles officiating. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Born July 7, 1911, in Tift County, Mrs. Roberts was the daughter of the late Preston and Ellen Hathcock Strange. She was retired from Riverside Manufacturing and was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Roberts; and her brothers and sisters, Bennie Strange, Harley Strange, Horace Strange, Lewis Strange, Willie J. Strange, Winnie Brown and Jewel Wisham.

Survivors include her sons, Bernard Roberts and wife Gayle of Tallahassee and Billy R. Roberts and wife Charlotte of Norman Park; grandchildren, Tommy Roberts and wife Donna, Billy Roberts II, Sharon Tanner and husband Glenn, Cynthia Whitehead and husband Bobby, and Roy Roberts; great-grandchildren, Russ Roberts and wife Kathy, Mathew Roberts, CeAirra Whitehead, Ellen Roberts, Timmy Tanner, Lindy Ashew, Jinnifer Ashew and Haliee Whitehead; and a great-great-grandchild, Kaylie Nicole Roberts.

Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

MOULTRIE — Daniel Ruffin, 55, of Moultrie, died Tuesday, July 23, 2001, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Luke Strong and Son Mortuary.



Helen Jones Perkins

LONGWOOD, Fla. — Helen Jones Perkins, 77, of Longwood, Fla., died Wednesday, July 11, 2001, in Longwood.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Lonnie Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Perkins was born on Dec. 11, 1923, in Doerun. She was retired.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Perkins Smith of Sanford, Fla.; a sister, Dorothy Pierce of Pooler; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.

Grace Horton Lanier

MOULTRIE — Grace Horton Lanier, 91, of Moultrie, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Sunrise Nursing Home.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Julian Griner and Stanley Hendricks officiating. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chandler Bennett, Danny Hortman, Kenny Bennett, Donald Bennett, Steve Stanfill and Sonny Murphy.

Born May 2, 1910, in Thomas County, Mrs. Lanier was the daughter of the late Madie Dukes Horton and Ed Horton. She was a homemaker and a member of Autreyville Baptist Church.

s preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Grady Lanier.

Survivors include a son, Jack Lanier and wife Mary Lou of Moultrie; a daughter, Jean Saunders of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; a sister, Doris Lewis of Moultrie; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Special Olympics of Colquitt County or to the charity of your choice.

Lala Davis Victum

ALBANY — Lala Davis Victum, 91, of Albany, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Services will held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 27, at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Leroy Thompson officiating. Burial will be in St. James Pallbearers No. 2. Pallbearers will be Robert Gibson Jr., Wiley Gibson, Waymond Gibson, Michael Gibson, Johnny Collins and Ralph Shannon.

Born May 28, 1910, in Cuthbert, Mrs. Victum was the daughter of the late Charlie and Carrie Whitfield Davis. She was a domestic worker and of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Victum; a son, Ralph Miles; and a grandson, Jerome Hightower.

Survivors include sons, Larry C. Victum of Verona, Penn., and Willie F. Victum of Moultrie; a daughter, Carrie R. Hall (Horace) of Albany; daughters-in-law, Lillie Miles of Yorktown Heights, N.Y., Gwen Victum of Verona, Penn. and Sarah Victum of Dorchester, Mass; an adopted daughter, Pamela Strong; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, at the funeral home.

Earl Elvin Hart

ELLENTON — Earl Elvin Hart, 80, of Ellenton, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at Adel Memorial Hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, at Ellenton Baptist Church with the Revs. Gary James and Andy Croft officiating. Burial will be in Leila Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons Brett Hart, Joshua Hart, T.J. Norman, Derrick Hart, Mark Phillips and Jonothan Hart. Honorary pallbearers will be grandson Shane Phillips and nephews.

Born March 10, 1921, in Colquitt County, Mr. Hart was the son of the late Amanda Griffin Hart and Alexander Hardy Hart. A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, he was retired from civil service as a chief mechanic. He was the former mayor and councilman in Ellenton, serving in city government for the past 18 years.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Johnson Hart of Ellenton; sons, Gerald Hart and wife Dorothy of Tallahassee and Randall Hart and wife Susan of Albany; daughters, Joyce Fulp and husband Paul of Adel, Judy Phillips and husband William of Ellenton and Alesia Norman and husband Terry of Omega; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
