MOULTRIE — A Moultrie woman contacted the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office Sunday night after her 3-year-old son gave her indications he had been sexually assaulted with a stick.

The woman reported the incident to sheriff’s deputies after the child struggled when she was cleaning his pants.

The deputy’s report said the 3-year-old boy had told his mother Sunday that he was poked with a stick while at a Moultrie day care center. When the woman asked him to show her where he had been poked with the stick, he indicated his behind.

When problems with the 3-year old boy started appearing, police reports said the woman contacted the day care center and told them her concern. The center reportedly told her an older neighborhood boy frequently visits the center, and he may be the one with the stick.

The deputy told the woman to take the 3-year-old boy to Colquitt Regional Medical Center for an examination, police reports said. The mother also contacted the Colquitt County Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS) about the case.

Police said results from the 3-year-old boy’s examination were unavailable as of Monday morning, but Colquitt Regional would notify the deputy once they are available. An investigator and DFCS worker would be notified pending the results of the examination.
