MOULTRIE —
The Colquitt County soccer teams swept their second straight doubleheader and remain unscored on after both the Lady Packers and Packers took shutout victories at Dothan, Ala., on Saturday.
The Colquitt County girls started the double shutout with a 3-0 win on a field with some poor footing.
The Lady Packers took shot 20 shots in the first half, but managed just one goal. Jaycee Lott got it in the eighth minute, with Flor Ciniceros getting the assist.
"We clanged them off every piece of white paint there was," said Lady Packers coach Andy Chupura. "And (the Dothan) keeper made some phenomenal saves too."
Aubrey Norris got the Lady Packers second goal of the match at the seven minute mark of the second half after taking a cross from Lott.
And Lott finished out the scoring with a PK in the final minute.
"We had plenty of shots, but the packed their defense in on us," Chapura said. "We controlled the ball."
The win over Dothan followed a 9-0 victory over Monroe on Thursday at Packer Park.
The Colquitt County boys also won 3-0 and got their first goal less than a minute into the match on a long, low liner in the lower left corner of the net by Manuel Vasquez.
"It was a beautiful goal," Packers coach Jimbo Jarvis said.
Elias Moreno got the assist.
Vasquez got the Packers second goal as well, with Alejandro Cardenas assisting on a bicycle kick.
And Cardenas closed out the scoring when he punched in the rebound of a shot by Jorge Villalobos that had hit the crossbar and bounced out to him.
The Packers had plenty of opportunities to pad the lead in the second half, Jarvis said, but missed a couple shots "by inches."
Matthew Moody, Jose Vega and Will Pitts combined for their second straight shutout.
"I'm really pleased with how well we are moving the ball around," Jarvis said.
Colquitt County will play host to Lowndes on Tuesday in a pair of games that will not count in the Region 1-AAAAAA standings.

“Where were you on Sept. 11, 2001?” is a phrase that brings an immediate reaction in people and they can tell you right where they were. But before that, another phrase brought a similar reaction — “Where were you on Dec. 7, 1941?” — the day the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.
