MOULTRIE — Two New Year’s Eve revelers were arrested after a deputy spotted a car parked on the side of the road and stopped the vehicle when the driver got back on the roadway at the officer’s approach.

Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office reports said that one of the Enigma men had white powder around his nose and that suspected marijuana also was found in the black Jeep Liberty.

The deputy saw the car parked at 9:20 p.m. Monday and when he stopped the Jeep in the 200 block of Waites Road smelled the odor of burnt marijuana, sheriff’s reports said. A plastic bag containing white powder was on the lap of passenger Michael Anthony Chin, who told the officer it was cocaine.

Driver Douglas Martin Hall had bloodshot eyes and said that he had smoked marijuana and ingested the prescription drug Zanax, sheriff’s reports said. The officer also found a partially smoked suspected marijuana cigarette and other suspected marijuana in the vehicle.

Hall, 20, 14344 Nashville-Omega Road, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, illegal parking and headlight violation. Chin, 14363 Enigma-Nashville Road, was charged with possession of marijuana.

Two women in the vehicle were not charged.

In another incident, Timothy Jacques, 38, 213 Second St. S.W., was charged Saturday with theft by receiving stolen property, theft by taking and probation violation by officers investigating a report of a suspicious driver.

A caller reported seeing a lawn mower engine and car battery slung from the back of a Ford F-250 pickup truck with no tailgate while driving fast coming out of a neighborhood at Old Adel and Clarence Norman roads. The caller followed and saw the driver stop at Can Man recycling before driving into a driveway in the 4300 block of Old Adel Road.

Officers found Jacques and a relative by the truck, and also found metal loaded on the truck and nearby the vehicle, sheriff’s reports said.

J.A. Norman told the officers the truck and metal belonged to him and that Jacques was an employee but did not have permission to drive the truck.

An employee at Can Man said that Jacques apparently was trying to take car batteries but fled when he shouted at him.

The sheriff’s office charged Jacques with theft by taking, while the other charges are City of Moultrie warrants.

In other arrests:

• Zachary Scott-Lashon Coleman, 20, 3777 Ellenton-Omega Road, Ellenton, was charged with pedestrian under the influence and underage possession of alcohol.

• Juan Perez-Ambrosio, 27, 1830 Sylvester Highway, was charged Sunday with simple battery.

Ashley Carter, 1300 block Sylvester Highway, reported Sunday that a Perez-Ambrosio grabbed her after battering the door of her residence open with the base of a bird bath.

He ran when Carter called 911, but an officer found him hiding in a wooded area, sheriff’s reports said.

• James Walker III, 23, 218 11th Court Southeast, was charged Tuesday with probation violation.

• Montavious Chomone Trimble, 20, 1115 Joe Louis Ave., was charged Saturday with theft by receiving stolen property and probation violation.

• Jarvis Matchett, 22, 4696 Cat Creek Road, Valdosta, was charged Monday with theft by taking.

• Zebulon Clay Taylor, 1264 Bay Rockyford Road, was charged Monday with theft by taking and two counts of probation violation.

• Khalyn Tahrik Jelks, 17, 1316 Third St. S.E., was charged Friday with driving while license suspended and interference with custody.

• Milton Ford, 28, 420 Wilson St., Tifton was charged Friday with probation violation.

• Tina Louise Carey 32, 126 Thompson St., was charged Saturday with pedestrian under the influence.

Moultrie Police Department

• Christopher Shane Olliff, 24, Georgia Highway 133, Valdosta, was charged Tuesday with probation violation.

• Wesley Antonio Copeland, 26, 138 Halls Lane, was charged Monday with theft by shoplifting and trespassing.

Wal-Mart, 641 Veterans Parkway S., reported that when Copeland was stopped outside the store he had $26 worth of merchandise that he had not paid for. He previously had been banned from the property.

• Christa Gale Carter, 36, 156 Cherry Ave., was charged Tuesday with driving under the influence, tag light violation, expired driver’s license and removing or affixing a tag or decal.

Assaults

Moultrie Police Department

• Ronald Gay, Moultrie, reported Monday that a male acquaintance pointed a gun at him during a confrontation in the 100 block of Rowland Drive.

Gay told police that he was going to confront the man about windows being broken at his business when he saw him driving at about 10:30 a.m. When he flagged the man down on Rowland Drive he pulled a small-caliber gun and pointed it at him while walking toward his vehicle and making a threat.

Gay drove away and went to the sheriff’s office, where he made the report to police. The case was turned over to the department’s investigative division.

• Kahlil Spradley, 1100 block 10th Street Southeast, reported Tuesday that she was assaulted by a male acquaintance.

Spradley suffered a bruise on her right cheek, a bruised lip, missing tooth and two broken finger nails, police said. She also had multiple bruises and scratches on the neck and arms.

Thefts

Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office

• Thomas Griffin, 1100 block Kendalwood Church Road, reported Saturday a burglary in which a Vizio flat-screen television and Acer laptop computer were taken.

• David Ricks, 2200 block Georgia Highway 317 West, reported Saturday the theft of 150 feet of insulated copper wire, Microsoft Xbox console and controller, 10-inch subwoofer in a carpeted box and an antique Coors Light beer clock.

Moultrie Police Department

• Lena Howard, 1500 block Ivy Lane, reported Monday the theft of a ring valued at $4,750.

• Perfect Simpson, 300 block Fourth Avenue Northwest, reported Tuesday the theft of her niece’s iPod valued at $208.

Property damage

Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office

• Damage was discovered at Whistle Stop store, 163 S. Baker St., Ellenton, by a deputy responding to an alarm at the business.

The door frame was broken and metal siding on the building had been disturbed, sheriff’s reports said.

• Ronald Gay, 300 block Country Circle, reported Sunday that a front window was broken at his business in the 2300 block of Georgia Highway 133 South and that Christmas lights were pulled down.

Moultrie Police Department

• Lisa Barahona, West Palm Beach, Fla., reported Monday that the driver’s tail light of a 2001 Dodge Caravan was broken while parked in the 300 block of Second Street Southwest.

• Angela Moore, 1500 block Fourth Avenue Northeast, reported Monday that a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer was damaged overnight.

The car had marks all around that appeared to have been made with a dull object and the damage was estimated at less than $500.

• Wendy’s, 1716 First Ave. S.E., reported Monday that two customers passed a counterfeit $20 bill in the drive-through.
