MOULTRIE — Colquitt County won three of its five game in the Softball in the Sand Tournament held in Brunswick on Friday and Saturday and finished third out of 16 teams.
The Lady Packers dropped their opener in pool play on Friday when Northside of Warner Robins broke open a 0-0 game with nine runs in the fifth inning and went on to a 9-1 win.
The Lady Packers won their second game on Friday by a 3-1 score over Brantley County.
On Saturday morning, Colquitt’s girls concluded pool play with a 6-1 victory over Wayne County.
Colquitt, Northside and Brantley all finished pool play with one loss, but the Lady Packers advanced to the Gold Division after giving up the fewest runs.
The Lady Packers drew a strong Effingham County team in their first tournament game and fell 10-4.
Colquitt concluded tournament play with an 11-4 victory over Bacon County.
Hannah Hancock and Ainsley Davis did the pitching for the Lady Packers in the tournament.
The Lady Packers, now 9-4 overall and 1-1 in Region 1-AAAAA, will return to region action when they play to Valdosta at 5:45 p.m. Thursday.

Level 3 gymnasts first, Level 4 team second in Thomasville

Lamb signs to run at Columbus State
When Colquitt County High’s Heath Lamb signed in 2010 to run cross country at Darton College, he said that one of his goals was to be able to run faster.
Lamb accomplished that and more in his two years with the Cavaliers.
And his performances with Darton have not gone unnoticed.
Lamb signed this week with Columbus State University. -
