Needmore schedules Big Finish 50 for Dec. 28

MOULTRIE — On December 28, Needmore Speedway will open its gates for the first day of a weekend of racing called the Langdale Ford Big Finish 50.

The previous race Needmore held was back in November called the Earlybird 75 and it was successful. Lots of cars and lots of fans made for an exciting weekend.

In the late model division Adam Giles blistered the track during qualifying and broke the previous track record leaving fans to hope someone can repeat this feat at the Big Finish.

Brandon Overton from Appleton, Ga. led most of the race in a crate late model, but eventually losT out to Needmore regular Stacey Roberts. There were drivers from six states in the race.

Gates will open at 3 p.m on Dec. 28 to let in the cars and fans into the pits and grandstands with practice starting at 5 p.m.

Practice is always important to drivers letting them get a handle on the track and knowing what setup to run.

On  Saturday, Dec. 19, Needmore will run a little differently from the last race by splitting up the feature over the two days, Saturday and Sunday.

Gates will open at noon, hot laps at 2 p.m. and racing at 3.p.m.

The feature for late models on Saturday will be 25 laps and a $2,500 payout to the winner.

Late models will qualify but will not be running heats. If 25 cars or more show up, they will run a B main.

In limiteds on Saturday they will run a 20-lap feature with $1,000 going to the winner. They will also qualify but not run heat races.

Superstreet has a 20-lap feature with $600 for winning.

Hobby division will run heat races and its feature will be 20 laps with the winner getting $400.

Enduro will run a 15-lap feature paying $250 to win.

Mini stocks are a 15-lap feature with $200 to win.

Sunday, Dec. 29, will be the next day of features and comes with extra perks for some of the divisions if a driver can win the points for both days.

 In late model, the winner gets the points and collects an extra $1,000.

In limiteds, drivers can win an extra $500 for winning the points for both days.

Gates will open at noon.

Just like the last event, the track will have a church service at 1 p.m. At 2 p.m. hot laps will start and at 3 p.m., the features will start for a second day.

Late models will run 25 laps with a $3,500 payout to the winner which, if a driver can win both days, would provide a complete payout of $6,000 and the points money of $1,000 for a total of $7,000.

In limited division, the 20-lap feature will pay $1,200 to win an extra $500 to the points winner at the end of the weekend.

Superstreet has a 20-lap feature with $700 to win. Hobby will run 20 laps for $500 to win and enduro will run a 15-lap feature paying $300. Mini stock will have a 15-lap feature with $250 to win.

During the weekend Needmore will also run skeeter cars, which will be able to practice through the weekend, but will only have one feature on Sunday.

They will qualify on Sunday and run a 15-lap feature paying $500 to win.

General admission and reserved tailgating is for children 6 and under, free;  youngsters 7-11 $8 and a12 and older, $20.

For pit admission, children 6 and under are free; children 7-11 are $10; and those 12 and older, $35.
