MOULTRIE —
MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County Rustlers won the Elite Tournament Baseball Silver Division World Series, which was held July 23-24 in Valdosta.
The Rustlers opened Friday night with a pool game against the PoleCats of Berrien County. In the game, the Rustlers were defeated 6-4.
However, a night of rest made a difference for the Rustlers.
They went back to Valdosta on Saturday morning with hot sticks and steady gloves.
On the road to the championship, the Rustlers defeated the Waycross Lightning 16-3, the Fitzgerald Riversticks 11-9 and the Berrien County PoleCats twice.
The first game Saturday against the PoleCats was a nail bitter that went into extra innings before the Rustlers got the victory.
Ethan Phillips hit a three-run home run and Raines Plant had a two run homer.
Cameron Singletary drove in the game winning run for a final score of 12-11.
The PoleCats beat Miller County to advance to the championship game, so for the third time in this tournament, it was again the Rustlers versus the PoleCats.
It was a blowout game with the Rustlers run-ruling the PoleCats 16-3 in the bottom of the fourth to become World Series Silver Division champions.
