The Colquitt County boys cross country team competed in the state meet on Saturday in Carrollton and finished 27th out of 32 teams. The top finisher for the Packers was Jonathan Florencio, who was 123rd with a time of 18:45. Also running for Colquitt County were Alberto Duque, who was 164th with a time of 19:26; Alex Gomez, 188th, 20:08; Palle Gutierrez, 195th, 20:27; Fernando Miranda, 211th, 20:57; and Noah Harrison, 221st, 21:49. ‘They ran their hearts out,’ coach Stephanie Cody said, noting that the state meet is run on hilly course in north Georgia, a course much different than the ones the runners are used to. For Gutierrez, Miranda and Harrison, it was their first trip to the state meet, ‘And they did their best,’ Cody said. Shown are, front, Jonathan Florencio; second row, Fernando Miranda and Alberto Duque; back, Noah Harrison, Alex Gomez, Palle Gutierrez and manager Charlie Florencio.
